Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

Are these real? Seriously?

Ffs

Nothing would surprise with Munster’s marketing team these days

Some amount of lads looking directly at that.

Some amount of middle-aged oddballs on twitter claiming they were at the game and it definitely didn’t happen. Imagine the kind of lunacy them lads would be involved with if they started following the hurling….

Including some of the Glasgow squad.

Thought these bits were interesting.

“Graham has been absolutely superb in all the processes because it hasn’t been easy over the last two years. We’ve taken significant chunks off our player budget and our thought process around it, I suppose, is around investment in our underage structures because what we want is a quality academy driving competition at the bottom end of the senior squad and we’re seeing it in our caps.

“We’ve taken over €2 million out of our gross player costs over the last three seasons,” Quinn added, “in other words, our gross budget has been reduced by €2m over three seasons, €675,000 on average that we’ve pulled every single year.

Seems to be right thimg to do, i still think DDA and and RG were a massobe waste of wage space. The central contract argument has been had out on here multiple times which is a very valid argument

The French centre Vakatawa (sic) is available and out of contract. He is a brilliant player and they should be after him considering they can’t buy any front row players.

Reading that, they’re going to be doing things on the cheap.

They’ve been shafted by the irfu

I agree, Zebo, Snyman and Frisch walk out the door and hardly a bob spent. They’re 3 or the most watchable players as well and they’ll be wondering why the crowds are down.

Some of the young lads look exceptional but it’s unfair to ask them to do it without help.

The South African wing looks exciting, but he’ll need to be exceptional at what he does as he looks a pure runner. Ben O’Conner, Haley, Daly, Nash and they have bought the lad from Connacht and the South African, when are they all going to play? Maybe Daly is going to 13.

I’ve a feeling Nash is going to lose out with Ireland with the Aussie coming back. Keenan might also move to the wing as Farrell is mad about Osborne who looks a class 15, he was in Ireland squads after barely having played for Leinster.

They shafted themselves with poor academy output over close to a decade. That’s why they don’t have central contracts. Looks like it’s changed now but will take a while to play out financially imho

They look farce light in the front row and centre this season though. There’ll be the likes of Scannell and Archer being relied upon again next April. Nothing wrong with a marquee signing with the wages of Zebo, Carvery and Snyman off the books while the academy is coming along

Why is Vakatawa not signed anywhere? Thought he was a top player for France when I’ve seen him.

Yeah - that’s fair. Rumour has it that the IRFU have blocked front row signings for Munster which is the one thing I would have sympathy for them in.

Front row signings are blocked. Except Slimani which was snuck through before Humphreys pulled the plug

Its a wonder the likes of Porter or Furlong haven’t gone down again with serious injuries, I’d say they know they’ve to be careful with Furlong for the next few years. He is starting to slip and I suppose they are hoping he’ll benefit from being kept really fresh. They could be going down the Sexton line with him of 10-15 games a season.

Porter is getting flogged to death by Ireland

He’s giving away those penalties because he is absolutely fucked and just about surviving out there I’d say. They’d a lot of mileage up before the last world cup that front row.
