Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

They went full strength in the corresponding fixture so Iā€™d expect the same.

Kelleher and Sheehan are out. I think larmour and Jimmy o Brien are out too.

I think Rowntree is safe for at least a season or two. Seems like a happy camp. They over-achieved first year but Iā€™d agree with @glasagusban that top 4 in URC and up to about quarters in Europe is about the level given the current squad and experience. Squad is improving as the young lads come through but realistically the time of Munster being a European behemoth are likely gone.

Looking forward to Sats game. 80k should be a great occasion

They havenā€™t got to the quarters the past two seasons.

They make it far more difficult for themselves by not guaranteeing home last 16 ties.

From what I hear itā€™s not a very happy camp either. A lot of younger players arenā€™t happy. Rowentree has bedded in with older brigade really well.

Iā€™d agree that quarters is a realistic target and itā€™s poor to miss it twice. However the URC win def put brownie points in the bank and topping the URC last year was decent enough too.

Iā€™d be very surprised if there was a change.

Have to agree with @BruidheanChaorthainn here. Rowntree almost lost to a Pete Wilkins-coached side in Thomond. Thatā€™s a disgrace in itself. They should be looking at his replacement imo.

They played a fine game v Leinster last missing a lot of players in the Aviva but thatā€™s as good as it got.

Drawing at home v bayonne is a woeful result. Northampton were a fine side but they still shouldnā€™t have lost that night. They were a man up too for long periods of the game.

The league win gives him brownie points but you need to see progression and you need to see it soon.

He also has to take responsibility for the injuries at this stage.

Home last 16 tie is the minimum expectation in Europe and heā€™s failed twice now in bad circumstances.

I donā€™t like front row forwards as head coaches either. Itā€™s like having a goal keeper as captain.

Tyler B seems to be sitting things on fire in Leinster. Only for Covid he could be coaching Munster.

I always liked him as a player. Heā€™d a languid passing and running style.

On Rowntree burns and Abrahamā€™s seem underwhelming signings too.

Iā€™d prefer to give more young players a chance.

How does this tie in with your support of Ten Hagg?

Different sport and different circumstances.

Tom Farrell a definite starter

He shouldā€™ve won a diddy cup. Some memorial trophy for beating Westmeath or something.

Nana nana na na, Rowntreeā€™s at the wheel, at the wheel, Rowntreeā€™s at the wheelā€¦

He could get in with Ireland with a fair wind behind him. Has been the best player so far this season. With Bundee, Cordero, the Aussie and the place kicking of the lad in the centre; I donā€™t know would I nearly prefer Connachtā€™s backs which is why he is in Munster I guess. Watched them verses the Scarletts last week and while the team played poorly, the backs looked very dangerous every time they got it, even if it was at times a little clunky. Connacht are dark horses this year.

Iā€™m not sold completely on Jager, his effort in defense against Zebre was pretty disgraceful. I donā€™t know is he a fella to put it all in. The new rule about props couldnā€™t have come at a worse time, Wycherly will always be too small. I wonder is it too late for Hodnett to give Hooker a go?

Connacht have some serious young players coming through.

That Hugh Gavin is a beast.

A relative of his said there were French and English clubs sniffing about before he committed to Connacht earlier in the year. I think Matt Devine at 9, Forde at 10 with Gavin and Johnny Devine at centre is the future for us. All good Galwaymen.

Is Forde a 12 or a 10? Saw in the paper there that Bunddee was a roadblock.

Forde is a very solid 12 and probably is good enough to get a cap there in the next couple of years but heā€™s by far and away our best outhalf. He has too good a boot on him to be watching a donkey like Carty or a one dimensional lad like JJ at 10 imo.

They should let him at it in there this year. Carty actually kicked well on Friday night from the tee, slotting them over from the touchline. Wasnā€™t great out of hand though, wasnā€™t getting much yardage and absolutely smashed a couple in frustration that he got away with. If they both play, they should really the young lad have the kicking duty.

If they stick their head too far above trench theyā€™ll be sent to Leinster.
