Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

There was a little thing called a major economic crash where Limerick and cork were hit
Particularly bad.

I’m not sure what you are trying to get at but when Munster are going well they’ll fill it plenty.

How’s that?

Munster rugby decided to redevelop themselves. They got gov support for it - the upside is that they control all the income including concerts etc.

Leinster are an anchor tenant of the RDS. They don’t shoulder that Capex but they don’t get the same upside in terms of ancillary revenue etc.

Two choices with pros and cons to each.

Is this just more Munster pity-party stuff?

Leinster only rent the RDS.

I think Apples is laying it on a bit thick. He’s correct that Leinster have fairly overwhelming and unfair advantage at the moment but the whinging is a bit much and certainly Munster have made bad choices and not helped themselves.

Yer man says above the stadium Leinster use is being developed through philanthropy and government money - sounds like a good deal for Leinster.

There is no self pity.

The irfu forced Munster to pick between Kleyn and Synman.

They then allowed Leinster to sign Synman while paying the salary of two Leinster locks on the Irish squad.

Farrell forced their hands on Peter o Mahoney. Again they had to cut their players to make room for his salary.

There was grave doubts about his ability to play the game. He hasn’t featured yet so far this season but is in the Irish squad all off a sudden.

It has nothing to do with Thomond park being built in 2007 or whenever it started.

It’s a common sense approach. All Farrell had to do was pick Kleyn and frish on a summer tour against Fiji in a November game and then you’d have a much stronger Munster side which would in turn benefit Ireland.

Instead they basically forced Munster to hand one of the best players on the planet over to Leinster.

Farrell then intervenes in the Pom deals.

It’s absolutely crazy stuff.

I think Ireland caps should be on merit so I disagree on Kleyn and Frisch. Tough breaks for Munster.

I agree on allowing Leinster sign Snyman and Barrett, seems to go against the supposed guidelines on signing foreign players. Can’t blame Leinster for it.

Munster are in a difficult enough spot but seem to be beginning to produce good players again. Fans probably need to accept that Munster are closer to connacht than Leinster and will be for some time.

Lowe, Gibson park, henshaw, Synman and Barrett will all be starting for Leinster come the big games. 1/5 of their team brought in from the outside despite all the advantages they have.

Munster are beginning to produce good players in a similar fashion to Leinster around 07/08 but Leinster were allowed sign all the nice toys they wanted back then to help them bridge the gap.

Munster recently signed Deallende and Snyman.

In 2009 when the teams met in the European semi final Munster had 19 irish qualified players with
Mafi, howlett and warick.

Leinster were filled out with Contepomi, rocky elsom, isa nacewa, Chris wittaker, stan wright and im almost certain they’d another very good South Africa proper injured for that game.

If you take rocky Elsom and stan wright out of that Leinster squad they most likely don’t even make the semi finals this year.

Everytime there’s a change of policy it’s to benefit Leinster.

It sounds like Munster made a mess of the Snyman situation, what’s the story going around about how he found out he was being let go?

Sounds similar to how Jenkins was handled.

That was on Rowntree but they still had to pick between them after Kleyn got capped by the boks.

They couldn’t have two non Irish players in the second. Instead Synman is actually stopping one of the two starting Irish locks from game time in Leinster.

It doesn’t make much sense.

More mad considering a few years ago they were allowed three SA second rows.

Munster took their eye off the ball alright. There was an assumption during the 00-09 period that the good times were a given. They were happy to cash in on the gravy train of the new found rugby lads and lassies who hadnt a clue, these hangers on are long gone and the lack of investment and development at grass roots level is more and more obvious.

Farrell had no interest in Kleyn after the D4 media pilloried Schmidt for bringing him to the World Cup ahead of their beloved Big Dev
