Munster Rugby - We DID start the fire (Part 2)

The last few seasons have shown that you need three big top level second rows to compete with Toulouse and La Rochelle. McCarthy, Ryan and even Baird will all get plenty of minutes this season regardless. Snyman is effectively replacing Jenkins and Molony who left in the summer.

Snigger.

Pity the media didn’t pillor Farrell for his disastrous decision to leave an absolute legless Johnny sexton on the field v New Zealand.

Ireland are so close to winning a World Cup but the Irfu seem more interested in getting Leinster over the line in a European cup final.

This is laughable. Ireland have never progressed past a quarter final.

They played the two finalists last time and won one game and lost the other.

They were incredibly close.

Probably for the first time in the top three.

4 of the 5 you named came while the books were being cooked. It was either going to be broncos or storm for all of them as murdoch media owns the two clubs.

Money matters most- cooking the books proof of it when having to operate outside a salary capped system

I think that’s a balanced view. I would also add that the IRFU’s priority is the Irish team - not trying to even out the provinces (to a similar level of mediocrity presumably). A lot of Leinsters benefits come from them being bulk supplier to the national squad which again is largely due to a decade of poor supply from Munster. I think that will ease back a bit now with more homegrown talent with international potential coming through into the Munster squad.

Which they already did of course.

It comes back to a lazy organisation and fanbase with the likes of @BruidheanChaorthainn. 9/10 they prioritise the sugar hit.

Part of the problem imo is that at the outset Munster benefited from professionalism the most and didn’t need to professionalise their organisation.

I think there’s a fair argument to be made that Leinster are currently oversupported by the irfu and also that it would be better for Ireland if the other three provinces were stronger. I also don’t think Leinster would necessarily be weakened much by then getting a little less support and the other provinces a little more.

Would you ever go away you spoofer. Rambling on about Doug howlett because that’s one of the reasons why one of the best players in the world moved from Munster to Leinster.

Sure when Gordon D’Arcy and jackman are admitting you know how bad things have gotten.

Farrell tried to get Coombes to move to the second row and Munster resisted. Now he’ll refuse to pick him.

End game is likely Coombes leaves to England or France.

It’s shameful stuff.

Eh you’re missing the point.

They were brought in as underage players. If you take Billy Slater, he was overlooked by the Cowboys and they completely fucked it with him.

Cameron Smith was also largely ignored as an underage player up until the point he was about to be signed.

The key was how the Storm scouted and signed players. They recognised there was talent under scouted elsewhere and went heavy on it. And then they developed these players.

The problem in Munster for years was not only did they ignore their own patch, but they didn’t scout Leinster. Instead they’d read the Irish Times & see schoolboy sensations like Fitzgerald and Conway and try to poach them. Sugar hits.

Of course don’t forget the economic crash which crippled Munster was caused by @Tim_Riggins and the likes.

Something that doesn’t sit well with Dublin based journalists and irfu head honchos went pointed out them.

Not a policy of shiny toys over developing youth players.

Coombes hasn’t kicked on and if anything looks to have gone back a bit. He could be looking at being overtaken by Gleeson and Ahern will be ahead of him for six. I hope he’ll improve another bit yet but if he leaves it’s not Farrell’s fault.

More bollocks. There’s loads of rugby clubs dotted around Munster that are doing very well. Munster are pulling kids from a more areas around Munster too than just cork or Limerick.

Jack crowley was 7/8 when Munster were at their peak in 2008. They developed plenty of players from 06 to 12 who are now coming through slowly at the senior ranks.

Porter and Baird both largely shifted position for their national prospects.

Likely another sign of Munster failing again.

Humphreys should get the likes of Deegan, Penny, Connors, Harry Byrne, and Tector etc out of Leinster. They’d improve the other 3 provinces and allow the likes of Culhane, Soroka, and the Osbournes to develop

What’s bollix about the Melbourne Storm?

You missed the point where I said Munster have their own patch and failed there as well.

It has definitely improved, but again Munster have now deprioritised the Academy by moving Costello.
