Yes and no. Obviously there will be a shower of smarmy cunts from Chareville swanning around with fake Cark accents. On the other hand you have to remember that not too many decent hurlers ever came out of North Cork except for the O’Connor twins.

I generally have a bit of a job convincing people I’m from Cork because of the North Cork accent. It’s not a thing of beauty - it really merges the worst of the Cork and Limerick accents. And there certainly are a lot of smarmy cunts from Charleville. The fact that the bigger towns in the region have always been a bit shite is probably part of the reason that we haven’t produced a huge amount of top class hurlers. I can only remember the back end of their careers, but weren’t Pat Buckley and Seán O’Gorman fairly well regarded at their best?

Fall out from this will be monumental, and I’m not sure the organisation will survive this one. At the very least it will change how things are done… forever.
