A pleasure to be there yesterday.
Two very good teams gave their all.
I thought it would take Limerick time to adapt to Corks game and so it was.
as I said midfield was going to be hugely important in this game with Corkâs style and quality of Kearney + Fitgibbon.
I thought all 4 midfielders had great games
but not necessarily on each other.
I was very worried when Hannon went off but
the young Na Piarsaigh man did very well.
a fair size man and full of gusto but you wouldnât
associate him with composure but he had it in abundance as the game went on. Testament to himself and the coaching staff who have only had him for a month.
the sending off was fair.
Cork got two handy frees at key times that kept them ticking over. But they tired. Very hard to maintain that running game for 70 minutes and over three weeks. Credit to them for kicking on when they looked beaten.
Limerick ran themselves into the ground.
Lynch, Morrissey, Mulcahy, Flanagan were immense second half.
Limerick did really well at start of game also and it was great to see the movement of the full line running left to right to create space before the sending off. Hit and hope days look gone. Limerick also dragged Cork HB line out second half to create space for Flanagan. Cork be disappointed with that.
Horgan a joy to watch but Limerick fullback
line were very good. The team are never beaten.
Hopefully we see each other again.
Great day out in Cork. Lovely new stadium Frank has. Will see you Cork boys again.
