He’s giving massive money to the big development in pwell and Ballybriwn.
The inter county stuff is over in nearly 3 months anyway… There would be no outcry.
What is your obsession with group games? They are awful. It’s gives teams much less chance of a scalp and tilts things towards the stronger counties.
The current format is just destroying the game. We’ve saw last year both Waterford and Clare just collapse in games. They both ran out of steam. They just didn’t have the numbers to compete.
I’m amazed people are supporting it. One of the biggest games of hurling this weekend and barely a murmur about it. The interest just isn’t there.
Should be an incredible game this weekend, can’t wait for it
The right structure is key. It’s the same any other sport.
The point is not many counties will have a jp to support them and definitely not when you’re in dire straights like we were around the late 00s.
You shouldn’t really need a guy like that to be able to compete. Croke park and the gaa could do much more to help counties compete.
Well that’s Waterford fucked

Waterford were fucked long before this. Have they won two round robin games?
They were competitive in 17, 20 and 21 when there was no round robin.
They don’t have the numbers to compete.
Their U21s were just as good as ours. They just didn’t kick on.
They’ve the raw materials but the infrastructure is questionable.
Limerick have it every way. The proper systems in place from underage. Generational talents that’ll be all time half of famers - skill, strength, pace. Excellent Manager and excellent coach who look like they’re going nowhere.
Waterford have a smaller player pool than every Munster county except Clare.
It kills then at underage when they are generally decent down the middle but will have a few weak links compared to Cork/Limerick or Tipp.
In the last 30 years the tier two counties ie Galway, Waterford, Clare, Dublin, Wexford and Offaly won around 8 all Irelands I think. Clare x 3, Galway x 1, Wexford x 1 and Offaly x 2 maybe I missed one but In the next 30 years I’d say those counties will be lucky to win more than 1.
I’d say cork and Limerick will also win double of Tipp and Kilkenny in this period.
Does that mean the rest of the team just down tools and sulk because ozzie doesn’t start like last year?
A lot of genuine Hurling people barely know these underage competitions are even on anymore.
Games are barely breaking 2k now compared to 8 or 9k ten years ago.
The interest just isn’t there.
It’s a bit sad alright. They’re making the u20 competition so meaningless playing it this time of year.
The AI final last year was a curtain raiser ffs. For a round robin match.
They won, 9-22 to 0-5!
Your dad must have great go in him to have fathered you in his early 50’s. Davy Fitz style. Does he still attend the Limerick matches?
The round robin has been a huge success. Numbers up and fans travelling all over the country to small grounds… A festival of hurling . The only lads giving out are those that don’t attend inter county games anyway and i suspect their real ire is at the GAA Go thingy getting games.
A friend of his died last week and he’d the exact same date of birth as him. From glin.
He went to a couple last year but is just left behind now by the whole thing. If he goes to a game he probably just wants to talk to some other auld fella about games in the 60s.
I always remember parking in the old hospital in Thurles years ago and he’d meet auld lads from ballysteen who’d be sitting in their boot eating sandwiches. He’d stop to talk to them for what felt like an eternity Before I’d get to go into the stadium. Them auld fellas from ballysteen used to eat the bacon and cabbage in the boot before my time.
The gaa go thing is a disaster. Any sport or game that’s moved away from free to air television bar football has suffered massively in numbers watching and participation levels.
Theres a Leinster Minor Hurling CHAMPIONSHIP game between Kerry and Dublin currently ongoing on the BACK PITCH in Portlaoise.
How long before we see Tipp v Limerick in Dr. Morris Park?
