Waterford will lose all 4 of their matches and the margins will get progressively larger as that happens so if it comes down to scoring averages that should help Clare and Tipperary.
It essentially boils down to what happens in the games not involving Waterford. Tipperary and Clare both already have wins on the board in that regard so sit in a better position than both Limerick and Cork.
What was the story with Seamus Harnedy being up in the box with the pundits afterwards? Up there in his gear, hadn’t seen that kind of set-up before. You’d never think he was 33 this year to look at him.
WDs round robin woes continue, their sole win being in Walsh Park last April, I make it P14 W1, D1 L12. They are just not suited to this format, if it was the old format they would surely be contenders for Munster and All Ireland honours.
Agreed, they have one 1 All Ireland between them in the last 55 years bring back the pre 1997 format and glory days for all 3 counties will flow like a tide coming into shore.
They reached 12 All-Ireland semi-finals and 2 finals between 1998 and 2017 all the same. It could be a long time before they see an All-Ireland semi again in this format.
Even the two recent non round robin years (2020 and 2021) they reached a final and semi-final.
Whatever about the underage performances from Waterford this year the state of the club game and the monopoly Ballygunner have is worrying. Having said that Ballygunner might have offered up a better contest there today than what Waterford served up. At least there would be some semblance of a game plan. I gave Davy a bit of credit after the last day but he will have to shoulder a lot of the blame for that farce today.
Based on the games so far you have to say a repeat of last year’s semifinals looks likely, at worst Limerick will take 3rd in Munster and demolish whoever they meet in the QF. Cork overrated as always after a facile victory today.
