Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2023 (Part 1)

Lave em off…

They should bite the bullet and just have two refs or else train the umpires up.

Sure that’s it.

It looked like a penalty on first watching which is the only go that Owens got.

Why did he have his arm wrapped?

The Sunday Game referee analysis always annoyed me.

Particularly the Dow. Clueless.

Arms wrapped around WOD by two Cork players rubby style but everyone frothing at the legal handpass … SOD has his arm wrapped around Gilliane’s chest but everyone frothing at Gillane taking advantage of being fouled…

The seethe is real.

Not a typical throw, more like a basketball shot, rolls it through his fingers

Cahalane got whistled for a pick up and a tap over free when ball bounced into his hand.

Lookit The Big House is hard bet

A joe player post… That made me laugh.

Sure look, you get some one day and not another day. They generally even out over a season. We got our Conor Cleary index back today with the penalty.

And everyone needed a replay to see it. Unfortunate but they happen.

Surprised you weren’t chirping on here yesterday.

What a day and a match, was late getting back to Dublin and was tired heading off to work but worth every bit of it.
Hard luck to Cork, was a fantastic game.

Munster final to look forward to is a brilliant bonus from yesterday, was all about qualifying obviously but great to have another crack at Clare.
So many ebbs and flows yesterday, we really seemed to be finding rhythn at 7points up but then Hoggy goal changed momentum again and it got nervy.

In fairness I had little sympathy for Cahalane in that instance, he was under no pressure and made two or three attempts to rise it and made a complete fuck of it.

That’s the long and the short of it. You could point to 5 or 6 really average performances as well from cork starters y’day and still they were in there with a chance at the end. Pat Ryan has done a great job overall but keeping the likes of lehane in the mix is baffling

Have always liked Seamus Harnedy as a player and comes across as a very genuine fella as well, he was excellent again yesterday and gave everything he had.

He actually does touch it once while on the ground. Very marginal but the right call. The penalty was potentially harsh but why were his hands around his waist.

I think gillane was lucky at best for the penalty. The sort of grappling you are correct on will always be trumped by a Hurley hold. Gillane was as cute as a fox imo but the analysis shouldn’t be around this. Byrnes finished his chance with aplomb. Cork went down the field and missed an open goal. That’s the difference and not the ref imo.

It’s a long summer :smirk: (unless you are from Cork ) .

As I said at the time, if Collins doesn’t hesitate and comes and tidied up and clears the ball away I doubt Owens blows for the penalty at all as he would have deemed that Gillane was never going to get to the second ball and was making a meal of it. But Collins comes and then stops/retreats which puts doubt into the refs mind and gave him a decision to make
