You are moving towards semi professionalism if not professionalism and that’s not good.
Look at the state of rugby because of it.
People need to wake up.

What format would you prefer, the second chance back door system or straight knockout like the 90’s?
I much prefer seeing more championship hurling matches anyway personally.
I’d listen to anybody’s views on the different formats but stevie wonder can see this format isn’t right.
I didn’t see much wrong with the back door format. Let the clubs run from Jan to august and then start it two weeks after a country wide club finals day or something .
In its current guise hurling is dying and I find it so sad.
I couldnt comment on hurling outside of Limerick mate, but the standard in the adult competitions from Junior B up has never been higher locally. Its chalk and cheese vs 10 years ago even.
I’m not so sure the standard is so high but Limerick are definitely in a better position than most. 15 years of the academy has seen multiple bunchs of young kids get a good education in the game and that surely benefits the base line but in other counties they aren’t so fortunate and just because Limerick are going well you shouldn’t forget about them.
My whole life was gaa even when Limerick weren’t great. I don’t remember any big wins bar the 21s until 07 and not a while till the 2013 team got going.
I can assure you that it is genuinely all way down to Junior B at adult level.
As a Limerick supporter - you need to focus on the blatant positives. We won’t be at the top forever.
They’re training too hard now,I’d love straight knock out but its unreasonable these days.
I’d like to see a bit heavier of a sliothar to make more duels and doubling/pulling and the product be unreal.
Straight knockout in theory is more exciting etc, but the more games the better. Especially nowadays, its not like the 90’s, so many other distractions are out there.
Well we aren’t running away with the various club championships anyway but as a I said hurling was on the life support machine in the late 00s and if it was for a few fellas god knows where we would be know.
Limerick fans should remember that when they try and lecture everybody about the state of the game nowadays.
We’re far more competitive in the last decade than we ever were. Look at Bruff losing the junior B All Ireland final, look at Monaleen winning their All Ireland recently.
Na Piarsaigh senior wise. Hurling has never been in a better place in Limerick in my lifetime anyway.
Ya that’s fair I guess.
Make the bas of the hurley smaller. Any eejit can hit a ball over the bar from half way these days, the hurleys have bigger sweet spots than a goalie hurley 20 years ago
Was it really on life support? In terms of Limerick taking an All Ireland yeah with the strike brewing but I don’t think the game in Limerick was. They streamlined the county set up and figured it out is what is after happening.
The athletes if Hages, Hego, Two Morriseys, Donoghue, Lynch…Hannon and Dowling coming, the money side is overplayed.
The football World Cup was wonderful this Christmas because teams had so little time to prepare. It made it a fairer competition for everyone and gave the under dog a chance.
I find it hilarious one poster on here constantly moans about the state club football is and how fun international football is but desperately defends the inter county game on here including the split season and the four month pre season.,
If there is to be change I think it makes far more sense to make the bas smaller rather than the sliothar heavier.
A smaller bas will reward better first touch and quality of striking moreso than just making the sliothar heavier.
While we’re at it, I think they should do something about forwards coming back to take a free inside their own half as well.
Jack Leamy lasy night must have taken 6 or 7 of them. To his credit he didn’t take much time over them and was accurate but it really saps the game nonetheless.
Hoggy down our way is very guilty of taking his sweet time going back.
Needless to say, they need to look at a heavier sliotar for intercounty.
Golf has a lot of the same problems. Making the
Ball heavier sounds simple but it could have unattended consequences.
France and Argentina finalled in the end, two superpowers.
The best game of the tournament was France/England. I have no interest really in Morocco shithousing their way through rounds. GAA players identify with elite sport now. Theyve to give the top young lads the outlet of games in front of big houses or they’ll go elsewhere. Its the way its gone.
Are you talking safety of a goalkeeper?
Breaks in hurling are like rugby now. There’s a thing we’re nearly all teams contest every free too and crowd the ref.
It’s like under tens.
