I note they are 6/1 to reach the all Ireland final.
I don’t know how likely they are to avoid Limerick pre the final though.

It depends what you think of Leinster. They would be playing the Leinster final losers in the all Ireland quarter finals and then the Munster final winners in A/I semi.
I don’t think they will win the A/I this year, there are three teams I’d have ahead of them all things being equal but the season opens up for them and they would bring a huge crowd to Croker if they get there.
If it plays out as you’d expect then there’d have to be a draw to determine which provincial winner Cork and Clare would play. 50% chance that Cork would be up against Limerick.
I don’t think so, provincial finalists can’t be paired again in the semi-final.
Is it a draw?
My understanding is provincial finalists cannot meet again in A/I semi final so third place from the province would play provincial winner instead.
Provincial finalists kept apart and repeat pairings avoided where possible.
Oh very true actually. Cork are probably on a collision course with Limerick in the semi-final so.
This is beyond presumptuous given the season we are having.
Cork are in a very akward position to get out of Munster. Waterford and Tipp have it in their own hands to take it.
There’s also a very real possibility whereby Cork win on Sunday and don’t come out of Munster (Waterford beat Clare and go to 5, Limerick beat Waterford and go to 6 and Clare beat Tipp and go to 4, beating Cork on head-to-head)
It hasn’t happened yet in the round-robin era, but it’s entirely possible that the All-Ireland semi finals can be repeats of both provincial finals if the two runners-up make it that far as the two provincial winners cannot meet each other in a semi-final.
Waterford won’t beat Clare
I’d give them a chance. I don’t think any game left in Munster is a given. The most likely win left is Limerick v Waterford (75-80% chance I would say). Everything else is in the 60/40-40/60 category
I don’t know if Limerick are set for another arm wrestle with Clare if both get to a MF. They’re creaking… Would depend on who Clare have available also…
I don’t follow - surely the losers of Munster would play Leinster winners and vise versa in that scenario
Correct.
2019 one such example
Wouldn’t they just cross over? Leinster winner play Munster Final loser.
You’re right. It’s been a long week at work.
Both Waterford and cork have to overcome a weeks turn around v teams with a two week break.
That’s an absolutely huge advantage to Tipp and Limerick.
2007 is the only time I remember there being a provincial final repeats at the all Ireland semi final stage and that was when you had 8 teams in quarter finals and a full draw
Tipp turned around a six day break to give a decent performance v Waterford who were on a 13 day break. I’m not sure if it matters that much.
