Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024…part 2

I dont think so mate

I hope not either

Good clatter of em on the motorway with flags flowing around 11 so you’re bang on.

Hard to believe it’s 40 years passed since that extraordinary centenary Munster final,
I was 9 years old, with my dad, favourite uncle and older brother, in the town end terrace it got a bit squashed so my da convinced a steward to let us into an area between the terrace and the end line where we had comfort and an interesting ground level view of the game.
Tipp were in the 13 year drought without a Munster but I had no memory of Cork ever winning an AI so there was no sympathy, I had been to plenty of games but the noise that day when it appeared Tipp would win and the transfer of energy when it switched around was mind blowing.
By 87 we had 2 all Irelands more won and while it was disappointing to my 12 year old self it was just desserts for the great Tipp hurling support, great days.
I hope Cork batter them today to stay alive but another classic might be on the cards, enjoy :+1:

Semple Stadium is not fit for purpose. A death trap and a tragedy waiting to happen with a full house/ big crowd in.

Not arguing that but in terms of value for money and suitability for the gaa thurles was the obvious venue to invest money in.

Cork is no good to anybody bar cork.

I’m open to correction but I can’t see two counties who would rather play in cork over thurles.

You see it in neutral games that are on in cork. The attendance is hit.

You’re right, it’s a no brainer to invest in Thurles. But the Tippos don’t have the money nor the wherewithal to go about it

Biggest rivalry in Irish sport. Hopefully today is the dawn of a new chapter. They dont come bigger than this.

Be honest at least, Limerick v Clare has surpassed it the last few years

No fear of this one being put behind a pay wall.

It’s the biggest game in Irish sport along with Dublin v Kerry.

Hurling didn’t start in 2018.

Cork Tipp will always be THE rivalry in hurling.

Two counties relatively starved of success attracting a near 45,000 crowd for a round robin game is tremendous.

I said the last few years. Maybe that’s half the problem with a few of ye. Still dining out on the past. Like the English voting for brexit , still thinking they rule the world

They were fixated about a supercasino in TwoMileBorris while the county board went bankrupt

My hole, Limerick giving Clare a pat on the head in meaningless matches knowing full well they’ll annihilate them when the chips are down.

Of course it’s historical, that’s what makes great rivalries, you can’t conjure it up overnight

Ah the glory, they just don’t get it.
