Hard to believe it’s 40 years passed since that extraordinary centenary Munster final,
I was 9 years old, with my dad, favourite uncle and older brother, in the town end terrace it got a bit squashed so my da convinced a steward to let us into an area between the terrace and the end line where we had comfort and an interesting ground level view of the game.
Tipp were in the 13 year drought without a Munster but I had no memory of Cork ever winning an AI so there was no sympathy, I had been to plenty of games but the noise that day when it appeared Tipp would win and the transfer of energy when it switched around was mind blowing.
By 87 we had 2 all Irelands more won and while it was disappointing to my 12 year old self it was just desserts for the great Tipp hurling support, great days.
I hope Cork batter them today to stay alive but another classic might be on the cards, enjoy
I said the last few years. Maybe that’s half the problem with a few of ye. Still dining out on the past. Like the English voting for brexit , still thinking they rule the world
