Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024…part 2

What brand of English do you speak?

One man’s decision is not a conspiracy, nor did he say it was. Everyone that watched it thinks the umpire guessed, it just turned out to be correct

We are thankful too

Limerick’s insecurity about Cork may cost them the record

Back in Dunmore now. Got back on the motorway :motorway: n no time cc @TreatyStones. Parked at a derelict row of retail units on the Tulla Road. That’s my spot for the future.

Got a grand spot at the back of the North Terrace leaning on a barrier. If there is a better place to watch hurling I haven’t found it. The noise and the heat and the view were something else.

We played with great heart considering the continual body blows we inflicted on ourselves. Like wtf was our defensive plan and wtf were we doing playing stupid passes across the middle of the field.

We were undone for the second game in a row by our inability to see a game out. Dont know the rights and wrongs of the last incident but it was set up for our backs to take charge of it which was all we had to do and we didn’t do it. Not good enough. No point in whinging about the umpires and the referee not allowing another play. We had control of the situation and we’d made a bollix of it again.

Pleasure to see Shane O’Donnell in the flesh. He really is a lovely intelligent hurler.

The Waterford support was fairly meagre too.

Apologies. I heard it on the car radio. Just a poor question and one lined up all week. After a cracking game that’s the best she could do.

We have it all to do now. But I was delighted we kept going and going, our backs and OB were way off it.

The umpire did guess

He came across fine and question not provocative but headline is click bait

Yes that’s a classic example of a game we would have won if SOKI hadn’t retired.

The umpire did seem to think about it for a long time and change his mind a few times. I was down towards that end and my own feeling was, it was a 65.

I felt Waterford had a 65 not given in the first minute or two when ball went off Quilligans hurl but was signalled wise by those same umpires.

Quilligan repeatedly fouls the ball on his puck outs by stepping out of the parallelogram. The dozy umpires let that go everytime too. I haven’t really seen that rule enforced since the Munster U21 final in 2008.

There was surely injury time still left after the 65 with the stoppages for the penalty and then the lengthy stoppage as the referee and umpires decided what to do on the 65.

Waterford ultimately tossed it away with kamikaze defending on first two goals getting caught in possession and some very poor marshalling of the near post by O’Brien on the 4th goal.

Seems to be be more of a reversion to Davyball since Cork game. Dessie seemed to spend a lot of the game around midfield with a full forward line all too often absent.

Stephen Bennett was in the full back line a couple of times in the second half.

Dessie received a short puck out from the 21 yard line at one point

To be fair to the umpire, he actually got the call right, despite not having a scoobie doo what happened. He got lucky.

The 65 itself was placed 2 yards closer and eventually struck from about 60m. The linesman runs across from the other side, looks at the ball well beyond the line and runs off again. Made zero difference but what was the point in coming across.

It was Kinnerk called Davy

Cc @Bandage I mugged off a Clare animal lovely today. Waterford got a very soft free before the break. This Clare fella roars in oh ya run straight into the back throw your hands in the air and it’s a free. I turned around and said have you ever seen Shane O’Donnell. Even the other Clare fellas around me giggled.

The umpire did have a deer in the headlights look about him but in his defence he made his way out to mark the spot for the 65, waited for the players to clear the area and called it correctly.

You definitely would though.

What’s the table reading atm? Munster GAA site has LK 1 CK 2 CE 3 but shouldn’t Clare be 2 nd on account of beating Cork?

I felt myself it was probably the correct call ultimately by the umpire but my line of vision was obscured from where I was standing. As you said, umpire didn’t have a clue and looked in the end like he just took a chance on it.
