Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024

Tim is a pure hip & whip hurler.

Little Graham Mul flattened Coleman in 2018… :joy:

Fundamentals like throwing?

Easy see the guys who think hurling was only invented in 2018.

The standard is absolutely shocking now compared to a decade ago.

In the 2014 All Ireland Final there wasn’t a single wide hit for over 30 minutes of play in the second half (and even the last wide by Bubbles from a free was over). Nobody missed. That is the standard.

When you see the cork team you immediately just think the person picking the team is clueless.

The fundamentals of the game are pretty much the same core skills they have always been. They have to be performed now under greater pressure than ever before. There’s no room for a heavy touch or slow strike or pass that isn’t pinpoint perfect. The drawn 2014 final was great fare for its time but hardly a tackle put in. The game has moved on massively. How many players from that 2014 final would even get into the current Limerick team? Maybe three? That’s the difference in the standard nowadays.

The day ground hurling was outlawed in hurling, the game died.

Coleman and Tim wing backs. Total Hurling.

You’re losing the run of yourself now

The team who have caused Limerick the most issues are backboned by players who won an all Ireland in 2013.

O Donnell
Duggan
Kelly
Conlon
Mcinerney

Are you having a laugh? :joy::joy:

Have you ever seen any of them play?

Coleman is the only one of those who is a stickman.

Tim isn’t a stickman, he’s your classic modern day athlete, he just doesn’t have the hurling or work rate to accompany it.

Fitzgibbon is a greyhound, not a stickman. He’s very very fast and good at shooting on the run but he’s not a stickman, he’s a runner.

Coleman is a nice stickman tbf but there is no era where he wouldn’t have been exposed at wing-back defensively. Imagine him against peak KK or in the 90s, he’d be ate under high balls.

Surely cahalane comes in to mark gillane?

Exaggeration in fairness. From the two teams I’d say six players would make the current Limerick team, with two of those being candidates for one place, for a total of five.

Not a single back nine player from the tipp 2014 team would make the current Limerick team. That’s the difference in the standard now, it’s stark.

That half back line will be torn asunder

TOM isn’t a stickman at all. And neither is Fitz really.

There are only two players who consistently seem to trouble Limerick; Tony Kelly and Shane O’Donnell. You could throw Jamie Barron in there as well if he gets back to 100%.

O’Donnell has changed his game a lot and is as much a ball winner/facilitator but they are all
similar-ish players.
