Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2024

I’d fancy Cork to beat Tipperary myself to get to 4 points and eliminate Tipperary in the process as well. The real disaster result for Cork facing into Thurles next week would be if Waterford beat Clare in Ennis.

They’ll bate the bollix off them, Tipp aren’t related to a top tier hurling team

Are you sure about that?

Look, there’s no point blaming the ref. Ye need to look at the lad who was supposed to deliver the envelope and got sidetracked somewhere on the martinstown road.

Or if its a draw in Ennis.

Cork dont want one of Waterford or Clare finishing on 4 points because of H2H.

Clare were big winners tonight as well. Every chance they’ll face an already eliminated Tipperary in last round.

Not a good result for Waterford or even Tipperary. If Limerick had won tonight, there was every chance Waterford could have snuck through on 3 points. They’ll surely have to pick up something on the road now in Ennis or Limerick to advance.

Be some craic if Davy’s Waterford ended the Limerick five in a row dream in the final game.

A lot will depend on how Waterford go in Ennis. Win in Ennis and Waterford are in the Munster Final and they’ll hardly be too arsed about the Limerick game in that scenario.

The 15 point Limerick win over Tipperary is handy for them when the other 5 games have all been 1 score games.

Waterford should have beaten Limerick in Thurles last year. They weren’t a million miles off them in Limerick in 2022 either.

Limerick were perilously close to going out last year on the final day of the round robin.

We also know Waterford under Davy can pull off an unexpected performance on the final day of the round robin.

I’d give Waterford a good shout of picking up something on the road. Most people seem to have them down to lose both of those matches. I didn’t see any of tonight’s proceedings hidden behind the paywall but Limerick haven’t been too hectic so far and are increasingly showing signs of a team on the road for a very long time with wear and tear accumulating.

Clare v Waterford might be a good shout for a draw as such a result would be good for Waterford and isn’t the end of the world for Clare.

Limerick are having the same issues Kilkenny had when chasing the 5 in a row, time on the bodies and injuries mounting up. Not beyond them, but looking vulnerable all the same.

Is a Clare v Waterford draw the only likely pathway to a possible Limerick elimination?

Saying that, Clare are champs in waiting and Tipp are shitty pantses

The following sequence of results would see Limerick eliminated:
Clare beat Waterford
Cork beat Tipp
Clare avoid defeat by Tipp
Waterford beat Limerick

As Kilkenny were going for 5 in a row in 2010, there was a clear alternative waiting in the wings in Tipperary if they slipped up. That’s not really the case now. While Clare have matched up best against Limerick last few years, there’s serious question marks over their credentials outside of Munster. Two poor enough semi final defeats to moderate Kilkenny side and even Wexford would probably have taken out Clare two years ago if they hadn’t sustained injuries during the game to key personnel in Rory O’Connor, Damien Reck and Lee Chin.

If Limerick are to fall it really is wide open.

All very probable. Limerick v Waterford the key

Great win. Brian Hayes was MOTM every day of the week. 1. Hayes, 2. Downey, 3. Barrett then Fitzgibbon. SOD and Collins had great games besides those two short puck-outs. Rob Downey should be 6 with Joyce put midfield. Eoin Downey yellow/sub almost cost us as DC looks busted at this stage in his career.

Ref had a great game.
