Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2025

Probably one for the unpopular opinion thread, but here it goes…

Munster final is better off on a Saturday evening. Makes for better atmosphere, as more people will be allowed consume alcohol with more people being off the next day and a bigger attendance.

Its going to sell out anyway. The atmosphere has always been electric when it’s on Sundays and having it on a Saturday wont change that. I wouldnt be surprised if there is a bit of trouble or a few skirmishes and Joe Duffy is talking about it Monday.

The current cohort of Cork youth following the hurlers are ferral.

Munster final is probably the biggest day in the Irish sporting calendar. Moving it to a Saturday is a joke.

Ah stop it will you.
There is not a single positive to having this on a Saturday evening, being drunk or having extra drunks at a match is no fun :man_shrugging:

Agree rating. Munster final should be a Sunday afternoon, always and forever.

Even with that, you’ll get a fair few drunk people anyway

Its lunacy. I dont mind having 2 AI semi finals one weekend with one on a Saturday. Thats a great idea but munster finals are an institution and should be an immovable feast.

Sure they were beaten each other up the last game as well.

They’re no different to previous Cork support and no worse than other counties,
Your own crowd are no better

Nah… there’s a very unsavory crowd of youngsters following them currently. Chalk n cheese to the older Cork supporters who are probably the soundest bunch you can meet. Every county has wankers but there’s a very noticeable nastiness to this cohort…

The Limerick crowd certainly has a few animals alright… all country lads. The Limerick city lads are all salt of the earth types.

It was a bad omen for Cork the last day when the feral youths adopted a Manchester United themed soccer chant.

Ever since I started going to games in the early 80s there’s been an ‘unsavoury’ element following the Cork hurlers, they used to congregate under tje city end scoreboard and called themselves ‘the city end’ back in the day
It’s the same with every county really, you’re probably on the wind up but the young lads you’re on about are no different to Limerick young lads

I’m not on a wind up at all.

I had an 80 year old Tipp man ( bro in law’s father) say to me recently that in all his years going to games the current Cork crowd are the worst he has ever seen.

And to my eye it seems to be a load of middle class Douglas types .

That’s a load of shit, he was probably a messer himself when he was a young fella
Everything is different nowadays anyway, maybe the soccer influence, cheering wides etc, I don’t understand that, not to mind an 80 year old
But if you think the Cork crowd are worse than anyone else you’re only fooling yourself, people are the same all over

No offence but what would a Wexican know about it?

My auld lad the same vintage. He said something similar to me recently, and I’ve noted on here before how in awe of the Cork crowd he usually is. But he said he heard there was a “bad crowd” following them. Now, he might be getting that off theLimericks at the golf club…

OK, I’ve decided to bite tonight for some unknown reason

Do these elderly people feel unsafe going to matches, what exactly is the difference? Young lads drunk at matches and acting the fool is nothing new and the Cork crowd are no different to your own crowd, or the Limerick crowd

The Limerick young lads are influenced by some v bad behaviour on and off the pitch from their heros

Stick your nose up further there, ya might see the sky.

I’m not on about the scrotes that were always there… the young crowd in general in Cork are bad. In large numbers.

I’m not buying it, I’ll say the exact same thing about the Limerick support
