Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2025

There was very little in that, I think I’m right in saying it was the handle of the hurl that caught his helmet. Certainly wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Tony Kelly’s earlier in the year and he only got a yellow for that as well.

I agree. Very insulting to Dublin for lads to be suggesting he try a few lads

I haven’t seen it back but did another Limerick defender get in Mike’s way at the time also? I have it in my head two Limericks went for the wan ball and Mike caught Fitz on the head in the mix up… could be wrong in that.

It would also be desperation. Team has been renewed and built over a season. Glaring issues or injuries aside you’re not going to make massive changes at this stage.

No, Casey came steaming in with the Hurley up for the block down, WOD was in chase but they didn’t interfere with each other- Fitz at the last second pulls out of the shot and dummies him. Casey has committed and the Hurley comes down and he catches Fitz clean on the top of his helmet with the middle of the hurley

It happened quick and Fitz got on with it which helped but it would have been a red back in March

Id imagine they will have to consider the Byrnes dilemma

A legend of the game but teams are targeting him. And he’s coughing up huge scores directly and indirectly.

And if we have learned anything from the semi final last year and how Cork targeted Hannon then it’s best to consider a change here. We gave up an unbelievable amount of scoring chances to Cork throughout the game - more than last year.

They might be resistant to it given the whole unit were under pressure the last day. CON would give Harnedy something to think about going the other way also.

Barry Nash was so important to Limerick’s overall gameplan the past few years and I think his effectiveness has been negated by the move out to wing back. I would be dropping Mike Casey tbh (not for performance reasons, but to improve the team generally), and returning Nash to the corner where he can do the most damage from.

I’d return DOD to the team and let English play in 15 role where he would be an attacking midfielder.

  Quaid

Finn Dan Casey
CON Hayes Nash
DOD WOD English
Hego Lynch Tom
Gillane Bull

He had sort of commited to the block down before Fitzgibbon faked it, a yellow was fair enough

Who replaces Nash? I think we have lost some of the ability to play out from the back without Nash in the full back line and Hannon centre back. They linked everything up. But Casey is playing brilliantly.

DOD is completely out of shape and was gassed incredibly quickly on Saturday

He will not be starting

He needs game time - Dublin is another good opportunity for him to get game time.

Ryan Taylor had the run of the Gaelic grounds against him a couple of weeks back. Cian Kenny is a similar style of busy hurler who will need tracking, I’m wouldn’t be putting DOD in on him.

They should move Hayes full back to make sure teams can’t play around him.

The slight drop in effectiveness from the Limerick half forwards puts more pressure on behind them and you then have a cascading effect. It’s nothing more than time and mileage catching up with players and bringing them back to the pack. Still my favorites for the All Ireland.

Gillane is unplayable with half decent ball going into him.

He just isn’t in form and English is excellent.

Not sure Limerick need to rip up their team after a draw. In all seriousness though, DOD looks well off starting at the moment. English didn’t have his best day but he’s still a massive weapon at midfield IMO with his striking and off the shoulder running. On a better day gets two goals and it’s Cork who need to rip up their midfield. WOD didn’t go great either but you’d still trust him to get back to standard. There’s more in Hegarty too, he’s so hard for opposition teams to mark but he’s not really making it tell on the scoreboard. Is he ever going to get pulled for the move where he leans into the defender and throws them over his leg before striking off his right?

Just as an aside, Limerick warmed up infront the Clare End for both Cork games. I thought there was a big decrease in the intensity of the warmup from the round robin game despite that being a much warmer day. Lot of balls being spilled and picks being missed for whatever reason.

I wouldn’t be so sure. There’s any amount of dung posted here recently, drop Reidy, drop Mike Casey, start DOD, put CON wing back…

The lads who’ve trained and picked 5 All-Ireland and 6 Munster Championship winning sides might actually know what they’re doing.
