Tony Kelly gave an extraordinary performance yesterday. I expect Jackie Tyrrell to pen an article.

Clare havenā€™t won the Munster championship since they hexed themselves in 1998

Guys, Donal Moloney of Clare seems like a thorough gentleman in victory and defeat. He was as gracious yesterday as he was after winning those U21 titles. Certain posters here who revel in schadenfreude should learn from the impressive way he carries himself.

This is actually true.

Moynahin in the examiner reckoned he was back to his best

Heā€™s out of his depth

Iā€™ll have to look back but did Clare mark McDonnell and Spillane and just let Cahalane off? Because after Coleman, Cahalane has the best distribution of that Cork defence.

The issue with allowing the short puck-outs was that the Clare full-forward line didnā€™t lay a finger on Cahalane as he was coming out. Didnā€™t force him to slow down, didnā€™t force a couple of hand passes or a shorter pass. Galway wonā€™t allow that.

They wonā€™t play Galway.

For the most part Nash could have played it to any of the three.

Clare dropped Conlon and Malone back inside their own 65 for Corkā€™s puckouts with McGrath and Shanagher taking the wing backs. Oā€™Donnell stayed 30 yards from goal with Cork having all three in the full backline available. The few times Oā€™Donnell got close to Cahalane he applied decent pressure and the clearances were poor, Kelly stayed pushed up for one yesterday late on and blocked Cahalane down. While Clare didnā€™t need to push up en masse they needed to commit at least one more attacker or at least vary it

Cork have a very good strategy but itā€™s driven by having very good forwards so they have lots of options. The obvious thing to do though is what Kilkenny used to do to them years ago is to crowd the half backs and midfield on their puck outs. But you need to slowdown their puck outs.

Force them long and occupy the space in front of Lehane for puckouts and weā€™ll see if they are as good as they look. Clare were brain dead yesterday, Cork couldnā€™t have asked for them to setup better.

He had a relatively decent game yesterday. Hit three from play and won another 3 frees which he converted. Got on half a dozen puckouts and was consistently making runs/showing for the ball second half. Along with Galvin and Conlon he hit some poor wides from distance when a ball into the inside forwards would have been a much better option. He worked hard but like the rest of the Clare team yesterday his decision making was poor and undermined some of his good work.

He is a centre forward and needs to be left there, he hasnā€™t the appetite for work for midfield and is too easily contained as a wing forward.
