In the 2004 quarter-final, the Antrim backroom staff had laid out the balls for the warm-up before the team came out. Niall McCarthy went down and pucked up into the terrace. Antrim came out and had to do their warm up with most of their sliotars gone. Don’t think they got an apology either.

One was a pre-planned ( albeit fuckin terribly badly if lads in the stands knew). The other was bad form or an over excited player running out onto a field.

Davy learned an awful lot from the mistakes he made as Waterford manager, in fairness to him. The Waterford county board learned a lot too.

Hurling fans complain about Semple Stadium security

Saying that they’re not “approaching” the Munster Council after feeding the story into the public domain since Sunday simply means that they’ve put the ball in Munster’s court to deal with, whilst wanting to appear the nice forgiving lads themselves.

Munster now actually have no choice but to deal with the matter as it has been brought to their attention. A fine for Clare will surely be in the offing, along with one of their letters of warning about future conduct. Cork can sit back and say that it wasn’t them - it was the Munster Council.

Maybe but I think it was Hoganstand that first picked it up after the Clare lads friends posted it up on youtube. It was picked up by the Examiner (well by Tipp man Jackie Cahill ) and then this non-story grew legs. If its not in the referees report it will probably be forgotten about which it should.

One thing annoyed me after the game. There is s passageway at the back of the town terrace across Dr Morris park which is very heavily used by people getting from one side of the ground to the other. I’ve marked it with the dot here.

Some utter cunt had parked a hilux or similar in this very spot and left it there leading to the most unnecessary crush of people. Needless to say I looked for a guard to sort it out but there was none to be found and I went on with my business.
