Murder In Paradise!

I wonder if this latest tragedy was a case of the man not being able to take the death of his brother and niece.

Hopefully not.

God really works in mysterious ways

Kind of a retarded and insesitive thing to say, surprised by you.

Maybe you donā€™t believe in God or whatever, but this family clearly do. Mocking them isnā€™t very classy.

Not mocking them, Kev. Iā€™m actually feeling quite disillusioned with the world this evening. Thereā€™s no justice. And I do hate religion now. Or more precisely what I hate is people believing that if they are good Christians and say their prayers then their families will be kept safe and then your daughter is strangled or a tree falls on your wife.

What if God was one of us, thrawneen? Ask yourself that.

You mean, he could be a slob, like one of us?

Like you maybe

BUt let them believe in it, i donā€™t believe in it myself, but i respect others wish to believe.

Apologies if i took what you said wrong, but it looked sarcastic/mocking with the raised eyes.

On the whole disilliousioned with the world thing, bad news sells, donā€™t take too much notice. Alot of good things happening in Egypt for instance.

If heā€™s anything like me then I will personally get in touch with Mickey and his family and tell them theyā€™ve been barking up the wrong tree all along.

Thatā€™s because you have angered the tree gods with your blasphemy.

If Mickey Harte has a strong religious faith, who am I or anybody else to argue with him. Iā€™m not religious at all and I donā€™t usually have much time for religion but itā€™s easy to see how a strong faith might be able to sustain somebody during a terrible time for him and his family. Whatever Mickey Harte was taught or believes, it clearly produced a man full of compassion for other people, the respect I have for him is off the fucking scale.

It was the gaelic football that did that. How can you give religion the credit when it also produced someone like Ronan Mullen?

Itā€™s also produced people like Peter McVerry. Having a strong faith can have lots of positive aspects if you ally it with a bit of common sense, most importantly a compassion for other people, a decency. Itā€™s not as if Harte is an evangelist or trying to inflict his faith on other people, but it has clearly shaped him into the man he is. My parents would be religious enough and would still go to mass every week but they never tried to inflict their beliefs on me and overall Iā€™d say religion had a generally postive aspect on their life - it kept them grounded and gave them good values which I often think I lack myself as a non religious person.

Mullen and other religious fundamentalists take all the worst aspects of religion and try to inflict them on the rest of us. Iā€™ve fuck all time for the likes of them.

When I see people like Noel Oā€™Leary I wish Iā€™d stuck with the gaelic football.

Only a small part of my respect for Mickey Harte is football related. Its his way in shaping young people i have the most respect for. Giving men a purpose they may not have had othewise, through all sorts of adversity. As well as his commitment to his playing style and total belief in it and in the players to perform it to its fullest. He is one of the main reasons Gaelic Football coaches started thinking differently about the game.

Why? Do you think youā€™d be better at it than him? Why would you continue to play a game you donā€™t like?

wtf??

he has had some tragedies recently but he comes across as an absolute bigot anytime ive seen him on tv. he also comes across as a bit odd

noel o leary is an alright sort
