Some thoughts on what I thought was a great game.

Galway got some outrageous scores. I don’t think they have the balance quite right as far as the style of play goes but when you add in a few of the corofin boys they will be a serious proposition. Mayo v Galway in May is going to be like old school knockout championship football.

Dublin did really well to find a way to win considering how depleted they were as well as being down to 14. Cluxtons kick outs in the second half were absolutely outstanding. He has been so good for so long it’s taken for granted. The second best keeper in Mayo will probably win the goalkeeping all star again this year.

Dublin will not win the all Ireland without getting some if not all of the missing players back.

There’s seriously good understanding between Cluxton and his intended targets. They make a run and he kicks it into the space. It’s so effective.

He has nerves of steel too. The last kick out to Con O Callaghan went 50 yards through the eye of a needle. A Galway hand missed it by inches.

The 2 of them were tackling McCauley. Their heads were out of shot but you could clearly see fingers going for McCauleys eye
