Wtf? Their keyness is irrelevant to the argument as to whether they can still perform or not.
Only Browne’s age could be considered over the proverbial hill.

We were talking about the Waterford side and its apparent decline this year.
The agrument above was not whether individuals can perform or not, but was about Waterford’s relative health
You mentioned that not too many of them were aging in that respect.
I mentioned that the ones that were, are key players in key positions.
Whether you like it or not, this is relevant to Waterfords immediate future.
Especially when you take into account that one of them is rising 38, 2 of these said players are no longer on the panel.
And the 4th is recently moved from his best position
I think people are getting over excited about Cork based on their league performances to date, they beat a shit Waterford and Dublin missing a lot of their starters.
They lost to Galway at the weekend but it’s impossible to gauge anyone off Galway.
I’d imagine KK will account for them handy enough. The Tipp game will give us a good indication of where both are, particularly as it looks like both will be playing for the last spot in the final.
I’m not saying they are shit or anything, just that they’ve beaten no one of note yet.
Tipp will rightly be favourites for Munster, but it is wide open. If Waterford can get their shit together it’ll be the best Munster Championship since the 90’s
Agreed.
it is not credible to install any other favourite for the munster final beyond tipp at present. fine if they get turned over in the league in the last two games but so far without corbett and kelly they have won the waterford crystal and won two out of three games.
cork have nothing proved as yet. they beat waterford well but a mid strength clare side beat waterford comfortably in the waterford crystal down in waterford cork produced an excellent performance in the last ten minutes to beat dublin but dublin have lost three out of three so far and had dominated the previous 20 minutes or so in much the same way that galway dominated cork.
as for clare limerick and waterford come championship none of the respective sides have done anyhting so far to suggest they can beat tipp in a cut throat game. those are the facts.
cork might beat tipp in cork but you could not rule out the possibility of them losing to limerick as well ourselves and waterford cant be predicted. we have the form now but that game is a long way away and waterford should have walsh centre back and mullane in the side by then
Into the end game now Chewy. This will be like the last days of the Cowen era.
Where should you be now, Nicky?**
**Only St. Kieran College alums 1989-2004 will get this
see my post above…i bet Ryan sees out the league, and is replaced before playing Clare
Think they’ll have to shift him before the relegation play off
Who’ll they replace him with? A fairly recent ex-player would be my guess. They’ve plenty of good young hurling coaches in the county but there aren’t many who can take on the top job.
Powers have Galway -7 now.
WillHill have it -4.
They only gave me €65 on it. Joke shop.
Chuck O’Connor maybe?
Being rumoured that Ken McGrath is going to replace him as selector/coach.
No doubting Ken’s hurling ability but has he even the slightest bit of coaching or management experience
Good opportunity for Clare to send down another novice manager to sharpen his pencil before taking the Clare job in 3-4 years, Colin lynch, Waterford would have to agree to fcuk that tony Browne off the panel first of course
Hope it’s true but that story could have come from anywhere. As far as we’re concerned, the best thing that could happen right now is the Waterford county board releasing a strongly worded statement of support. We need this guy in office until the 17th of June at least. If he walks the plank before then there might be time for some other figure to rally the squad for championship.
Disagree WTB, fools gold, if you can’t beat a fully clued in Waterford there’s no point going into a Munster final v whatever emerges from the other side. I think we’re in danger of getting ambushed in the current situation , let them regroup and us be under no illusions as to what’s ahead
Ken has never coached a club team.
That game in 2008 before Justin is what were looking at now by the looks of it, I think mark flaherty got 1-2 that day…and plunkett looked like a magician , false game, only stalls real progress
They played Limerick, Tipp, and Cork after that and that run hardly hurt them. Waterford being in a mess had no negative impact on them whatsoever. How does beating a team in the championship ‘stall’ progress when you have another game to test you straight after it? Beating Waterford means two big games for our young team. If Waterford are prepared, great,.If they’re not, it makes no difference.
