Long time since I seen a team as sharp as Tipp in mid March. Interesting to see if it can be maintained into the summer.
As for our lads⌠look sluggish all through and I know they trained hard on saturday but our play look void of thought at times.
Long season ahead.
Waterford have put over a few lovely points today.

Did the same two years ago, the day Shane Burke scored 3-4. I wouldnât be reading too much into it, although Tipp have stepped it up since the Cork game.
What did you think of Andy Smithâs chop on Brendan Maher, red card?
dp
Id like to think that Galway team was a long way from the current cropâŚ
Didnt see it properly⌠Was it a chop on the hurl or on the arm?
Tipp looked very sharp alright.
KK coming through a tough battle with Waterford. Keeper gifted them two goals, which were quite handy in keeping them in it in the first half and then confirming their advantage in the second. The table is very tight now, with two points separating all six sides after three rounds of games. As an aside, Lester Ryan was booked for a very similar foul to the one that your man was sent off for in the club final yesterday that sparked two pages of tedious debate between Appendage, MBB and others.

Chop on the knee.
Tipp very impressive today. Overwhelming favourites for Munster and deservedly so.
Waterford did well but the soft goals they conceded decided the match. I donât rate James McGrath as a decent intercounty ref and the corner forward took about ten steps for the first goal.
Are there highlights on anywhere tonight?
A few lads on Galway hurling forum gone into meltdown.
Well worth remembering that this weekend last year we were beaten by 25 points below in Nolan park.
No sense in panicking but with most of your defense intact you shouldnât be conceding those totals

Just counted 9, but could easily have been 10 or more, ridiculous stuff. As for the initial puck out, FFS, Waterford hurling goalies
Nope

Agreed. You canât take anything out of today other than Tipp clicked collectively & Galway did not.
Great to see Bubbles & Shane Bourke going well from a Tipp perspective, they should be looking at making the 13 & 15 jerseys there own now. Lar is starting to look interested again and Brendan Maher is showing leadership on the field. I still think our full back is an issue but he will be given time & rightly so. The return of Paddy Stapleton & his form is a serious addition for us going forward. Panel looks strong provided they stay fit.
As for Galway, it just did not happen for them today. Young Glynn caught some great ball but he was too far from goal every time he won it. Damien Hayes was ineffective yet stayed on for too long, young Cooney lacks pace so his positioning will need to be a lot better if he is to retain that spot. But in saying all that, it is mid March and this result should be seen for what it is. A blip and the bigger picture is Leinster & the All Ireland.
Defence was only half the problem. Forwards were beaten hands down early on. Donnellan was rusty and Niall Burke worryingly didnât do much when introduced. Canning mush have been injured after the trip as he was invisible after that. The most worrying thing was the only plan seemed to be lashing high balls towards johnny Glynn who battled well but was swallowed up once tipp figured we had no plan b. lots of stupid ground hurling as well which gave away possession too easily. Tipp looked good and took scores too easy, we have to get cuter and foul any goal chances. Big mistake not winning in Ennis we need to win the last two to avoid relegation, which would be a real reason to panic.
Yeah, by my reckoning, unless Galway win the last 2 ( which they are capable off) they will need cork and Waterford to lose both theirs as if they finish on 4 with Clare the lose out the head to head
Itâs tight as fuck. We only have the head to head advantage over kk. If ye beat them next week that might save us with one win. Otherwise we have to beat cork at home, theyâll be stung after the last night and Waterford in dungarven. At least itâs not Walsh park we never win in there. Anyone bar tipp could still go down I think. (They could obviously but wonât) Iâd predict us v Clare in a relegation final
