Had NCT last night. As luck would have it (following DBs tips and Europe golf bets) I got a puncture on Tuesday morning!!! Brought it to a place on Dorset St cos I was at Temple St with the young lad.
Asked to fix tyre, €10, grand he could have told me €25 I wouldn’t have a clue. I asked the lad to check alignment as I had NCT. He said no need just cos the puncture, I said I understood but I had NCT and he may as well. I figured I’d spend €5 on parking so he may as well keep the car and do the tracking.
I come back a couple of hours later and car is still on the ramp…sorry but there is a problem, we couldnt do the alignment cos your tie rods are gone and they need replacing, your alignment is off too much, you will fail the NCT. Look at your tyre that will fail.
How much to fix it? €240 parts, labour and realignment…ah fuck it I say I’ll get it done again. You’ll fail the NCT he said, look your tyre will fail it to. I can have the same type tyre here tomo for €158. I paid €185 for these tyres so it seems cheap but still €398 to have it sorted for NCT.
Anyway head wrecked so I said forget it, just take for the puncture.
Wasn’t going to bother with NCT but I went out to visit the Mammy last night and said fuck it, I’ll go up and put it through on the way home, at least they’ll tell me what else is wrong with it…

Go into your shed an dig out a lump or claw hammer and a bring it along with your nct cert to that garage. Find the lad who tried to rob you and show him your nct cert. while he’s perusing said cert meet him right between the eyes with said hammer.
In fairness the tyre looked a bit worn, not a lot but a bit on the outside …Im now wondering who got it wrong? …don’t give two fucks, I won’t get penalty points come January for not having an NCT!!! So now ill wait til next year and ask Carryharry to price two tie rods, labour and realignment as well as a continental 225/40 17 (I think ) !!.
