Yeah the erosion of the middle class and increase in single parent families is surely more prevalent now. Michael Lewis talks in a chapter on one of his books on how the rockets surveyed prospects with a huge number listing their mother or president obama as the strong male figure in their lives. Ill try dig the stat out.

The dream team plus isiah thomas were massive personalities and team leaders so outliers i think a bit. But football in the 80s was more macho than now even so not many would have expressed themselves.

After life is enjoyable

Have no interest in basketball, always thought it was a shit viewing spectacle with the constant scoring, 120 - 100 type scores and constant breaks in play. However The Last Dance is unreal, compelling viewing and Jordan is an immense character with supernatural athletic ability. I read there he still holds the standing leap record. I might start watching a game or two or at the very least, pretend to.

I think Jordans parents had both been in the military too which was a big leg up at the time

Go to a game, it’s brilliant

Even to go to a Superleague game here is an eye opener.

We are currently watching a polish film called “the plague of bratislau” (or something like that cc @balbec.
First half has been very good. Beautifully acted. Nice dark humor. Bit graphic in spots. Two lead female detectives are great characters. Well recommended thus far (stopped halfway as it was bedtime)

Was just going to write it👍

Thought the latest episodes of The Last Dance were the first two which suffered for having Jordan involved in it

The Europeans do detective based dramas so much better than the Brits.

Finished it last night. A really good film. Well recommended. Some of the British stuff is very good, most is mediocre.

Any artistic pieces in it?

The guillotine scene was peachy.

Not really, no.

There is a good one up called “Gods” true story about surgeons performing pioneering heart transplants in the 1970’s.
