Fat Ronaldo always comes across as a roly poly jovial type fellow.

Most of his teammates reckon he was a lovely guy.

And it’s all the better for it.

He’s talking about not fat Ronaldo

Okie dokie

Be an interesting question actually who’s the soundest really top top world class sportsman with a long career. Short enough list I’d say

Gigi Buffon.

The one thing that strikes me about The Last Dance is that your average NBA player seems to be an intelligent fella. Pretty much all of the players interviewed over the years are well spoken.

Would it be fair to say they are a smarter bunch than their NFL counterpart?

Hard to explain that to a rugby fella

That generation of NBA players would all have had to have done four years in college for eligibility to the NBA. It changed to one year or 19 years of age in the mid 90s. You are also looking at smaller rosters, 12 v 53 so a far smaller pool. Pretty much all the guys interviewed in the last dance are either greats or lads who had long careers for the most part so would be fairly polished media wise.

Football is bigger news also so you hear more about NFL players…

Thats a fair point but thought it was obvious even from footage at the time.

Just a hypothesis.

Black kids in the 60s and 70s had role models who were articulate, intelligent, well spoken. Malcolm X, Ali, bill cosby, apollo creed etc Todays utes has mumblin rappers with names like lil tre

It’s mainly that. Bit more intelligence required to play it too though with just 5 men on the court, rather than a collision sport where being stupid enough to repeatedly get smashed is the main asset of some players.

Jordans parents were middle class with huge focus on education. That’s possibly less common nowadays maybe.
