New Ireland manager

Fergie time.

Doyle can’t even hold his own lard arse up.

All I’m saying is that If we are gonna persist with Keane, which it looks like we have to, we need someone that can hold it up.

On an unrelated note but about the game last year. They really should cap the amount of kids going to these games. In our row we had a group of about 6 kids under 10 who did nothing but run in and out of the row of seats through the game, they had no interest in watching the football. I have no problem with kids going along with their old man or big brother or the likes but having bunches of these little shits acting the maggot when you’re trying to watch a masterclass from Ibra in such a high stakes game is a disgrace.[/quote]

A bit like the crowd in the corporate section.

Connor Clifford and Owen Garvan need to be drafted into midfield to shake things up. Go with

Westwood
Coleman, Dunne, O’Shea, Cunningham
Garvan, Clifford / McCarthy,
McGeady, Holohan, Reid
Keane

The new manager should be some sort of renegade total football enthusiast and it’s best to write off the next ten years because the current batch of youngsters coming through are every bit as limited.

I think Scotland were at a similar malaise to us about 5/6 years ago and are currently bringing in some really good footballers who will establish themselves in the coming years. Ireland need to do something quite similar.

Jesus.

Ya wait until lads get to senior then try to teach them total football. There has to be a complete overhaul of the underage coaching systems in this country and get ourselves as far away from the UK model as possible. Even in games against inferior opposition, they often have superior touch and passing ability. This has to be addressed immediately if we are going to build stronger teams for the future.

For now, we need somebody who knows our players well, who will put out our best 11 to 14 players every match and who will get the very best out of them for every match. In other words, bring back Mick McCarthy.

Your last point-ffs. I assume that’s a wum. There would have been about 11 people at most Ireland matches in the last few years if you didn’t let schoolboys go to matches.

I think you’re retarded. That whole post focuses on the grass roots level of the game.

Also nothing wumming about my final point. I don’t mind kids going along to the game with their family as they might have an actual interest in the game and there is something sacred about a father bringing his son/daughter to the football, but bringing groups of kids to the match who have absolutely no interest in the game and are more bothered in practicing unhealthy habits by running off for coke and chips at a regular interval.

o_O What would this achieve?

Give us a football identity for the younger generation to follow rather than the kick and rush merchants we’ve been for the last 10 years.

And then the younger generation will be Barcelona?

Why do you have to go and make preposterous inferences?

No it’s not. The only time you mentioned underage was when you said we should stop them going to matches. The rest was some uninformed dirge about Scotland being good and bringing in a manager of the senior team to preside over a shambles for 10 years.

Writing off 10 years is stupid. Play to best suit the resources that we have, this changes and develops over time. The idea of a football identity for younger generations to follow in Ireland is laughable. The point about coaching at youth level however is correct, if hardly insightful as it is well documented at this stage.

My subsequent or prior posts tackled that so shut up your mouth. Having simpletons like you and glasagusban making inferences on behalf of a genius is hard to handle.

Sorry, mate-my bad. I only ever read a few of your posts, usually when I want a good laugh. Like most geniuses, you are misunderstood by your generation I suppose.

Ireland for the Irish!

Billy Bingham. The only man born in Ireland to have taken an Irish team to the World Cup…And he did it twice.

Zlatan aside, Sweden were absolutely there for the taking last night. You would be a liar to say otherwise. Likewise, Austria at home should have been three points. Losing to a team the calibre of Germany shouldn’t be unexpected, but getting hammered 6-1 at HOME is a fucking disgrace and is unacceptable.
No we are not world beaters, but we are not getting the most out of the, admittedly limited, set of players we have.

Bring back Mick McCarthy.
