I can’t understand why he is so intent on taking the job now. Leicester having nothing to play for while Rodgers still has 2 trophies to secure. Not sure I’m happy with the interim appointment of Lennon.
It’s not a very ambitious move from Rodgers. Poor timing and not a great choice of club. But I’m sure he’ll be well compensated while he navigated the mid-table EPL mediocrity.
I don’t know what options we have other than Lennon. We’re a bit fucked for this week. I guess this is a bit out of the blue and we seem to take forever for Desmond to decide on who he wants as the next manager so I imagine we’re stuck with him for now. We could do a lot worse on a short term basis but it’s certainly not inspiring.
I don’t exactly see Lennon as a steady pair of hands. I probably would have just went with Kennedy.
Which ones would these be?
Ah here. This league isn’t won. And the Cup is very much there to be won too. He hasn’t even managed the Reserves.
Maybe he decided to make the move now in case Leicester changed their mind come the end of the season.
Probably. But I’d have thought Leicester wouldn’t be the pinnacle of his ambitions. Maybe he doesn’t think he’ll get a better job ever but it’s hardly the dream job to rush off to.
It’s an EPL job with a decent team where he more than likely doesn’t have to fight relegation. To me, from where he was coming from (not necessarily the club in particular/size of the fanbase but more the league), I can understand him wanting to nail down that job now.
he was going to go to China so I think money is what drives him
Roddy Collins is dusting off his CV
He wants to be back in the premier league - I dont think he’d be given a better job right now … No way Man Utd or Chelsea would appoint him … possibly Spurs but there’s no guarantees there will be a vacancy there either.
Leicester have a fairly good team. None of the top 6 will go for him straight from Scotland and after that Leicester are one of the better teams
@Bandage you should be submitting an expenses claim for that time you drove up to Brendan Rogers hometown just for a bit of propoganda for the club.
The alacrity he’s displaying to walk out mid-season has stunned me.
Alison McConnell of the Evening Times in Glasgow reporting that Rodgers called the first team squad into a meeting yesterday after training and told him he was leaving. They “were so taken aback by the news that it was initially thought that the Northern Irishman was joking.” She also reports that there were emotional scenes during the meeting. Rodgers has messed with our bhoys’ emotions ahead of a crucial week. These well paid athletes might not be capable of dealing with this.
Didn’t he do it to his ex wife?
@Father_Flash met him too and didn’t like him.
Post up an English language version of the L’Equipe article about Rodgers and Dembélé from 31 August there.
He has a portrait of himself hanging in his home, or had. He’s done a decent job and improved a lot of players but he’s very poor tactically.
Are Celtic really getting £7.5m for him?
