There is definitely good managers. They are very hard to find and worth their weight in gold.
There are also definitely bad managers.
Then there’s a lot of lads who can thrive in an environment and fail in a different environment. Frank a great example. Andrews probably benefitting from the same good setup he had.
Or lads like Pulis or Moyes who can be great to a certain level but struggle at the elite end.
But then there’s lads like Mourinho who, in his day, could make a team great.
Guardiola always had money behind him, but at the same time he has achieved greatness wherever he goes.
Klopp took Liverpool from a basket case to greatness and lads said it was the all because of the laptop boys. The same laptop boys are signing duds now, or handing them to a manger who can’t make them better.
Emery is clearly a brilliant manager. Was unlucky to be at arsenal at a time where he got no backing.
Even O’Neill is clearly a brilliant manager. Anyone who has played for him seems to hold him in very high regard. And his record is top class. Even with Ireland. Maybe he’s similar to Pulis and Moyes in that he has a level.
I don’t know where I’m going with this other than there are definitely good managers. But they are very hard to find. And there are a lot of okay managers who in the right situation will do well. And there’s other lads who it doesn’t matter, they will be shit regardless
