no I think Xavi reckoned Rikaard didn’t give him enough game time as he was small and not physical enough
eventhough deco was around then and was more the finished article than Xavi at the time
[/quote]
This is the drug cheat Deco?

Avram Grant crawls out of his hole to appear on Sky and declare interest in the United job.

its not digging in
i believe fergie showed other teams like Inter and Chelsea the way to combat Barcelona’s tika taka style
now this conversation has morphed into who was manager then

Gill: We’ll move quickly

United chief executive David Gill says the club will move quickly to announce Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement.

The Reds confirmed on Wednesday morning that the 71-year-old Scot will retire at the end of the current campaign after more than 26 years in charge.

And Gill exclusively told MUTV that it won’t be long before Sir Alex’s successor is revealed.

“I’m not going to get into speculation on that [an exact date]
but we will move relatively quickly. I’m not going to define how quickly that is though,” explained Gill, who himself leaves the club at the end of June.

"The qualities [needed] are the ones that have been inherent in Manchester United for many years. If you look at what has happened with the two most successful eras – Sir Matt Busby and Alex – they are managers who got involved in the whole aspect of the club, whether it be from the youth team up to the first team.

"All aspects of it, plus that degree of loyalty and the understanding of the football club that it’s not just what happens on the first-team pitch, is crucial to the success of Manchester United.

"Those are the sort of things we’ll be looking at. Clearly he has to have the requisite football experience, both in terms of domestic and European experience, so I think it’s a small pool but we’ll move forward."

The lack of European Experience should rule out Moyes.

Moyes has plenty of European experience.

I suppose he is from Europe.

So you’re continuing to ignore the fact that other teams defeated Rijkaard’s Barcelona, like Rafa’s Liverpool, and that Inter and Chelsea were triumphant over a Guardiola managed Barcelona that was very different to Rijkaard’s team in terms of formation, tactics and personnel. But Ferguson provided them with the blueprint by beating that previous version of Barcelona who’d been beaten by plenty of other sides. There’s absolutely no logic to your argument, I’m afraid.

Sky now saying that there has been no contact from Manchester United to Everton as regards the availability of David Moyes. “Everything is business as usual here”, says the Sky reporter at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground. Moyes is heading to Stamford Bridge to watch tonight’s match.

Will be very disappointed if Moyes is appointed. Doesn’t have the pedigree for the job. No history of delivering trophies. Jose is the man to keep Man Utd competitive.

Moyes would be the modern day Frank O Farrell. It has to be a Mourinho or an Ancelotti. The club would be too big for Moyes.

Martin O’Neill’s Celtic were the first team to show others how to defend against Barcelona.

The same could have been said of Fergie before he took over.

Look at the shit that JosĂ© left Porto and Chelsea in. He’s an overpriced short term solution.

Moyes is the perfect fit for the role and he comes to the job with plenty to prove as opposed to the other two that would be just turning up for the cheque due to what they’ve won in the past.

New manager to be announced on Friday!! Like I said, it’s highly unlikely it is Klopp, he’d hardly drop that bomb before the CL final.

I think the difference with saying that was that Manchester United in 1986 wasnt the club it is now. United were in decline for years when Fergie took over. A new manager will have to be spend money on the squad anyway.

Rene Meulensteen has said he wants Fred the Red to take over.

Jesus christ
i’m talking about the tactics Fergie used you complete emptyhead
of course teams beat barca over the years
but utd. kept them scoreless over the two legs
did Liverpool ? no
if I remember correctly Liverpool went behind early in match at camp Nou and went through on away goals
totally different game, totally different tactics
Chelsea and Inter used tactics similar to that used by Fergie than Liverpool used
I don’t understand how this is causing so much confusion for you

It wont be soon.

Its Moyes mate.

I can confirm it is David Moyes.
