This Anthony Barry character dropped us like a hot snot before & he’s the type that would be out the door next February to take over at Southampton or somewhere if he got the Ireland job & had a good start.
It’s a firm no from me, Bill.

He wanted to get away from Kenny before he sunk his career too so I wouldn’t hold that against him
He was part of an Ireland set-up that lost at home to Luxembourg and drew with Azerbaijan. He shouldn’t be let near the top job.
This becoming quite the fiasco now.
2/9 now

I think at this stage, they should just give it to someone who wants to do the job. John O’Shea or Neil Lennon or @Juhniallio
Cooney is an embarrassment to journalism. Himself and Dion fanning rambling on about Klopps second great Liverpool team was highly amusing.
These fellas just don’t understand sport at the top level.
Gavin Cooney is a right talent. He’s reminiscent of Kimmage but able to write and Early but likable.
It all went to Cooney’s head after @Bandage gave him a ringing endorsement.
Coney has been name checked on a podcast over here for one of his articles for Punditry

I thought he had something - he’d show up for the Ireland AM Sport preview & review on Fridays & Mondays during lockdown (moderated beautifully by Aidan Cooney) & had an insouciance about him which I found endearing. He seemed to have interesting views & could express them but then he seemed to simply morph into one of the pack & kinda wanted a pat on the head from his perceived betters. I don’t think he ever overcame the Simon Coveney debacle on Twitter.

Lennon and Coleman want the job. Both have decent credentials. What’s going on with the English lads running the FAI is pure eejitry. They’re reading YBIG posters and pro-Stephen Kenny Twitter accounts whose operators are utterly clueless and taking their cue from that. That’s actually what’s happening. It’s like when Arlene Foster and Jeffrey Donaldson came into the DUP. They didn’t come from a DUP background, they came from the UUP and so felt they had to “prove” themselves by going even more hardline than the people they were joining. Canham and Hill are taking their cues from deluded tuppence hapenny online Ireland “ultras” who are obsessed with an imagined “purity” which throws out every principle successful Ireland teams have ever been based on.
Have we tried Big Sam lads?
Hear fucking hear.
To me Lennon is a better option than O’Shea. He’s has actually managed teams but has he been told to please fuck off by the FAI?
O’Shea getting the job after no goals and a defeat and draw in the two matches doesn’t sit right with me.

Dan is the gift that keeps on giving.
Good ol Dan
It’s going to be O’Shea. Le Fin!

You know, it’s not unusual sometimes for someone who organises the raffle to win the raffle…
And he was the man along along. The FAI just needed to respect his contractual obligations with his current employers - The FAI
