As it is, Kiely’s shipped a 7-goal beating to Cork, thrown away a 7-point second half lead in Wexford Park after mocking the Wexford manager in an RTÉ interview in the build up, publicly slagged off their own supporters at the league launch, fell out with their best young player who’s now banished from the squad, appointed a captain who didn’t deem it necessary to train with the squad all winter and we’re barely into February. I wonder if they’ll look to replace him at the end of the league and before the championship? The job looks way too big for him. Some underage coaches just aren’t cut out for the adult game. This is senior hurling.

Add his comments in today’s Irish Times to the list. This Kiely chap is rattled to fuck after the first league game and looks clearly out of his depth. Calling for penalties for fouls that weren’t inside the large square. Calling for second yellow cards for the goalkeeper’s first and only foul. Generally whining and moaning like a deranged lunatic. There’s a lot of tax free Swiss Francs gone into team preparation and no doubt he’s under severe pressure but that’s just plain daft stuff.
