Nothing Great about Britain

A boss of mine at the airport used to work in a HR type role for the Irish prison service. Heā€™d often say officer-prisoner intimate moments arenā€™t that unusual

20 billion is fuck all. Itā€™s the equivalent of roughly 1.6 billion here

Iā€™d be thinking the same but when thereā€™s so many in Britain who are already struggling any extra taxes will hit hard.

The problem she has is that 82% of britains gdp now comes from the financial sector, ergo London. Thereā€™s fuck all manufacturing going on. Thus if she raises taxes , itā€™s going to hit hard. She canā€™t borrow and with Britain running a corporation tax of 25%, sheā€™ll attract little or no fdi. When you consider that the poorest in Ireland are still 63% better off that their British counterparts, I think her only option is to slash spending and hope for the best

Where are you getting that figure from (not disputing it)?

Scabies never went away, remember an outbreak in Cork and Limerick in the 80s,TB is also back

Iā€™d say itā€™s better here but not by a large percentage,
I can categorically state truthfully that thereā€™s serious deprivation in parts of the 6 counties that we donā€™t have down here,
Strabane / Derry have major unemployment blackspots since forever,
Obviously any cunt drinking or drugging his / her dole away happens and wonā€™t ever stop but vast majority on the dole across the border donā€™t and struggle week to week

There was a discussion on news talk the other day. Twas brought up then

I only found out recently that the UK only pay child benefits on the first 2 children.

Yeah shur thereā€™s war going on over there. The birth rate is going through the floor. If it keeps going the way itā€™s going, theyā€™ll be laying on boats themselves from France in a couple of decades

Child benefits on a social welfare payment is how I understand that.

They limit the equivalent of our child allowance based on highish income rather than the number of children.

It is an interesting social experiment when you think about it (perhaps too much).

50k. Every Ā£100 over you have to pay back 1%.

So you could have one couple on 49k each and they get it or one on 50k and 20k and they donā€™t get it. But the work around is that you put the child benefit in the lower earners name.

Thatā€™s gone up to Ā£60k now and every Ā£200 you have to pay back 1%. Itā€™s about Ā£25 per week for first child and Ā£17 per week for every other child. I struggle to believe anyone in the UK before the 2 child limit was having children for money-making reasons.

We just put ours in an ISA. Thereā€™s no way it would cover anything. The monthly payment would barely cover nursery for a day. You do get 20% from the Government towards nursery and then thereā€™s the 30 hrs free when they are three. Thereā€™s also something coming in for two year olds. Then thereā€™s something that covers summer camps etc until the child is 18 thatā€™s linked to the government account youā€™ve to set up to get the 20% relief mentioned above.

You and your pampered English ways - no free childcare hours at all here.

Thatā€™s what we did til they took it not long after hoppy was born.

Itā€™s well needed. Double our Mortgage at the minute. Thatā€™s with the hours!
