Governments make hard decisions. That has always been the way.

And politicians are humans as well and react to those things. Once upon a time in Ireland to be in opposition was basically walking a tightrope. You didnât have the profile that being in Government gave you. You didnât have funding to campaign. That pushed people to govern. Today there are more politicians than ever happy to be on the backbenchers here as they can run a political career like that.
The historical argument in favour of first past the post was that it led to more stable governments. I believe that over the last 100 years the terms for Parliaments have been over 4 years on average with PMs invariably serving their term out. Here it is something like 3.2 years but itâs been becoming more solid ironically with our changes in Taoiseach not being down to instability but other factors. I think Ireland has as much opposition but PR is probably leading to a more stable situation right now (same goes for across Europe where itâs they have multi party systems really).
Anybody who follows UK Politics closely and has a shrewd and open mind would suspect Nigel Farage had Ann Widdecombe murdered with the help of the Russians. It all seems extremely convenient for Farage.
Farageâs speech the other day was very curious, he framed himself as the most oppressed man in Britain who apparently cheats death daily and therefore he NEEDS all those corrupt millions coming from Russian aligned interests for SECURITY.
Simple solution to demonstrate this âpointâ - have an expendable member of your party murdered to generate sympathy for you and your party and to take the heat off you.

Iâve had a small peek into some of those social media posts referring to the death of Ms.Widdicombe. Thereâs surely some absolutely deranged, racist and downright evil people out there.
Some of the stuff written about her death is beyond conception. She may not have been everyoneâs cup of tea but there used to be certain standards that applied with the passing of a public figure.
