In 2011 France twice allowed New Zealand to play in black in the World Cup after having a kit designed with a large amount of black in it, precisely for the purpose that New Zealand might have to change against France.
However Mr. O’Brien is correct in his assertion that the home team generally changes colours when there is a clash. Scotland v France matches over the years bear this out.

Disappointing to see the great, chivalrous rugby tradition of the home team rather than the away team changing jerseys not being observed at Lansdowne Road.
Although given there’s no clash of colours between Ireland and Argentina, this makes my point completely redundant, in which case, forget I made this post.
