Rumours abound that the Wexford representation on Off The Ball will soon be coming to an end.
In what capacity will he be resuming duties with the county then?
Why?
Strawberry season. It’s all hands on deck in the model county
There was an absolutely smashing barney between Roddy Collins, Stuart Byrne and St. Pat’s captain Ger O’Brien on tonight’s show. Started about 8:40 and ran well over its time until about 9:10. Roddy Collins said Sunday’s final was a terrible match, O’Brien then laid into Collins for Derry playing terrible football when Collins was manager early in the season, and then Byrne laid into Collins towards the end for turning the converstion into a joke, “The FAI must be absolutely laughing at us listening to this. This last half an hour has been pointless. The whole conversation has been an absolute farce.”
The league of Ireland section is my favourite bit of Off the Ball and tonight was a doozey.
If the 2 goals in the final were anything to go by, Roddy was spot on here
Stuey Byrne is a very knowledgeable football man and an excellent pundit
the LOI on OTB is top notch allright.
watched most of that game and it was poor, very poor
It was a cracking argument alright. The presenter did a great job - leading them into it then letting them at it.
Roddy should be replacing Dunphy on every RTÉ show. He’s correct far more often and he’s also consistently far more entertaining.
agree with Sid
fantastic radio
Stuart Byrne is brilliant
where can you listen to it again?

thanks mate
stuey byrne, roddy collins and brian kerr and the only decent football analysts on english speaking TV … actually Martin Keown is very good on MOTD
Kerr is so far ahead of them all tho
Collins is 100% right
- shite league
- shite crowds
- shite training facilities
The ape on representing the LoI players harping on about how he would be playing “Europeans football” next year and why he’d never want to consider League 2 with Luton Town epitomized the small mind attitude of the players/league

look, i wouldnt be calling him an ape
there is such a thing as pride in a club, shite and all as the game was and the league is it means a lot for these lads even if they do get turfed out of the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa league by BK1903 Thoshavn next august
What’s Ger O Brien meant to do?, yes we know the league is poor but there are people who love the game like any other and want to play in a league here, the fact that the FAI have no interest in it is a travesty really and is very sad
the fact that most talented young lads here dont want to play LOI is very sad and the FAI have created this, if they are past the age where they can make it in england then its easier just to play intermediate football, who the fuck wants to go to work/college and then head up to Finn Harps to get the fuck kicked out of you in front of 10 people and barely get a sandwich on the way home.
Playing in your national league should be a source of great pride , it is not, at home we cant get 200 people to watch Ramblers play and this year you had a load of local kids in the team, half of those lads wont stay next year,., its easier just to play MSL if you want to play in a good league and have a life… it really sickens me[/QUOTE]

I assume its a WUM here people praising Collins as a pundit. He’s a fucking jokeshop and a charlatan.
I know a few lads who played under him and while a great motivator he has absolutely zero tactical nous or intelligence. His time in Derry was an absolute shambles.
