As Iāve said countless times - no problems in Tyrone being called up for it as long as the other teams who engage in these antics meet the same standards, have their incidents scrutinised and their history of similar incidents called up but thatās not the case. There is a huge double standard in the way the Southern media portray the same incidents and it comes down to geography.
How quickly was the Meath Dublin brawl last year done away with despite allegations of a biting and fish hooking? Why did the Armagh Cavan one rumble on so long?
Listen your timeline might be a bit messed up here but Armagh didnāt introduce an immediate press ban, it was taken a while after when the malicious reporting was still continuing. The reporting on that incident was a disgrace, the blame was solely pinned on Armagh despite the fact that four of five Cavan players ran at the Armagh players and struck them first. Elements of the press suggested that Martin Dunne had his hand stamped on and thatās how his hand was broken until TV evidence cleared it up that he broke while throwing a punch at Jamie Clarke who was on the ground.
Do you think they had every right to boycott the press when they were slinging unqualified mud at them?
Geography again choco. Tipp is surrounded by current and past hurling counties and there is always more bite to games amongst neighbouring counties which leads to eventual hatred from some elements, also our sucess is bound to create an element of jealousy.
Anyone see that drug mule boot Michaella McCollum on the telly the other day? Another bullshitting piece of shit from Tyrone who tried to blame everyone else despite being caught red handed, what the fuck is wrong with these people?
From around 1988 to 1990 Meath were every bit as hated and more as the current Tyrone team and they approached that level of unpopularity again after the Mayo replay in 1996.
But they were able to turn that hate into respect both times as far as the public was concerned, because even though they dished it out worse than anybody, they took it better than anybody and were proven winners.
The current Tyrone team, management and supporters have simply decided to dig a deeper and deeper hole for themselves over the last couple of years with the way they are completely unable to take any criticism.
Meath, or any other team for that matter, never had the same goodwill towards them that Tyrone had as a result of the tragedies that befell the team and county. That Tyrone have managed to squander that goodwill so spectacularly says a lot abut how they have behaved.
Harteās interview tonight was akin to Bertie Ahern asking why the media didnāt focus on the āgood thingsā Fianna Fail did or Stephen Roche moaning about the media not focussing on āthe good things in cyclingā around the time of the 1998 Tour de France.
