Pat Spillane made light of the whole affair, no outrage or tut tutting about the whole incident, you are all so encapsulated in your bitterness that you have now taken to rewriting history.
How has Spillane reacted to āRufflegateā?
Fucksakeā¦ it was a throw away video and remark from meā¦ relax ffs.
What part of Ulster were Tony Keady and Colin Lynch from?
I donāt know, I do know that there Meath were not hung out to dry on The Sunday Game for that incident despite having a quite long preceding record of such events. The current media outlets have been quite quick to distance the likes of that Meath team and other teams from Tyrone, try and avoid it all you want but itās there and it exists.
Once again, missing the point - I doubt their counties were vilified on account of their actions.
Tyrone got very light treatment on The Sunday Game the other night.
And the one man who really went personal on them after the Cavanagh incident, Brolly, is from Ulster.
But letās not let facts get in the way of the āanti-Ulsterā narrative.
Clare were roundly vilified in 1998, so much so that Tipperary were most neutralsā team when the 1999 Munster semi-final came around.
Jesus, do I have to hire a big flashing sign for you or are you being deliberately obtuse? This is being pushed by the Southern media, who Brolly works for, he also writes for Gaelic Life where I think youāll find his articles are much more toned down on Tyrone and Ulster football in general.
Iām not talking about neutrals, Iām talking about the press. It was touched on the other night on teamtalkmag, it is being wrote by a bunch of car sharing journalists who are reading off the same script. Guys like your man Parker on Newstalk who is recalling incidents that he knows fuck all about as a stick to beat Tyrone with - the u21s this year and Derrytresk - two such incidents which he used, incidents which the image perpetuated by the Southern media went before Tyrone teams.
The Southern media are not interested in dealing with things across the board, they only wish to go to town on teams from the North, Tyrone in particular. You seem delighted with their stance, having thugs like OāRourke and Whelan pontificating about correct behaviour, lads who never had their constant thuggish actions scurtinised over yet have no problem screaming bloody murder about actions involving Tyrone that are repeated and practiced by other counties.
Just listened to the Harte interview. In fairness 1. He will defend his team. 2. Said there was wrong done. 3. I agree thereās double standards here (Kerry are no angels, the kk of football, this year shields for cork, Dublin, the new aristocrats well able for shithawking) its there but to single out one team without bringing up the others smells. We are all Irishmen remember that. All the same , equal and a bit of balance wouldnāt go astray.
I think Harte made some good points. However his defending of Cavanagh in particular was ridiculous.
I do agree with @Nembo_Kid to an extent that Tyrone are given unfavourable treatment compared to teams such as Kerry and Dublin especially but I donāt think itās anything to do with bias against Northern teams. I think it is down to Kerry and Dublin playing more pleasing on the eye football. Now both those teams are cynical and do bring men back as well but they also play really quality stuff going forward. Itās the same situation with the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona when Guardiola and Mourinho were in charge. Real Madrid got the vast majority of the bad press and the stick from pundits when both of those teams were as bad as each other for diving, crowding around the referee, trying to get other players sent off etc.
They got the vast majority of the bad press because they were far worse. And because they tried to play for penalties from the first minute of the two leg Champions League semi-final in 2011.
That Barcelona team still wasnāt a nice team at all and they got virtually no bad press. As for your point on Real Madrid playing for penalties thatās basically what I said in my post. Tyrone get extra bad press for any incidents they are involved in because they play a style of football that is terrible to watch
Both Madrid and Mourinho and his teams have long records of horrible shit whereas Barcelona and Guardiola donāt.
Madrid have a rare chance of redemption now with a great man in Rafa Benitez in charge.
Doesnāt take much to roll the cunt these days.
McBride was Monaghanās very own judicial Rex Banner. Some say he roamed the street at night dishing out rough justice to petty vandals. By day, he dealt with those heād missed in court. I think heās still in action. One of the highlights of any trip home is getting to the court reportings in the Northern Standard, and get up to speed on McBrideās current targets.
Cavanagh is like a son to Harte, heāll never see fault with him. To be honest, I donāt really fault him on that front, its very akin to Boylan with Geraghty in that regard.
