Official 2012 All Ireland Hurling Championship Thread

Will An Moltoir be doing his usual analysis this summer. No updates on his blog since the middle of March

Although I agree with your point regarding Wexford/Limerick not really having an advantage, the current system still has too many worthless, non-competitive matches. Nothing worse then a diluted hurling match

Looks like young Darren Sweetnam is off to play pro rugby with Munster.

wasnt that well flagged previously by you guys?

Yeah, I assumed he would take the pro route, although maybe he would wait a while. Kev said he was dedicated completely to hurling, god only knows where he heard that.

Sweetnam? The scrawny fella?

Jaysus they’ll have to pump the creatine into him something awful.

i was thinking the same, he’d only make a winger right? He does seem to possess exceptional movement and pace alright

I would be thinking more scrumhalf or outhalf. What position does he actually play?

He plays 10.

Yeah, but that comes with the qualifer system. The concentration of weaker teams in Leinster at the moment means it’s inevitable they’ll wind up playing each other again. In any case I wouldn’t imagine those games are meaningless to them.

As far as the provincial championships go, even if getting rid of them was desirable, it’s politically a non-runner. I doubt they’d be able to come up with anything better than them anyway.

I see Lar Corbett is to start writing an article for the Indo. No doubt it will be a groundbreaking insight into the mind of a GAA player

Where the fuck is he going to find the time for that?

He is hardly scrawny for a back imo, he is still doing the leaving after all.

That’s a real shame. Hard to blame the lad if he wants to have a go at professional “sport” though.

That fella has loads of time, sure all he is doing is fronting a pub and other business ventures for Kevin Coppinger. Thank fuck he has the personality and charisma of a stone as he would endorse anything for a few quid

I was going for sarcasm given his stated reasons for leaving the panel earlier in the year.

Galway are giving Tipp a bit of a trimming in a challenge match in Thurles this evening. 10 points up with time almost up

Tipp rally somewhat after being 3-15 to 0-10 down. Finshed 3-16 to 0-21

tfk really has the inside track on all matters stick stick.

Clare to win munster this year I think. Standard in the province isn’t great. Kk unreachable for the All Ireland. Dublin might catch them once but not twice.

I wouldn’t write off Tipp yet with Bonnar Maher and Corbett back. Still have three of the few top class hurlers in the country.
