Saturday the 20th double header in Thurles
Would be a great occasion. Makes far too much sense unfortunately
EDIT: proven wrong it seems.
Galway seemed to be far more natural hurlers than Kilkenny across the board tonight.
It must be something with the coaching at juvenile levels that players arenāt correcting the basics of griping the Hurley and the striking is effected.
That Kilkenny team did very well to be as competitive tonight. I liked no.9 midfield.
Really impressed with Burke in MF for Galway again. Think he is the same club as former minor prodigy Sean McDonagh out in football country.
Heās good.
Their goalie was brilliant on the ball. 11 is very good but drove a few wides. 14 dangerous.
Be some game between themselves and Clare.
Clare keeper looks good also.
Kilkenny worked their socks off to a man. Galwayās starting midfield thought they were the Harlem Globetrotters, some of the forwards had a similar mindset. Backs were great though. Overplayed it at times.
Heās even better. Has a senior standard puckout already.
I think Niland is brilliant but Iād be worried about the way he doesnāt get others into the game or shoot off his right.
He wonāt be able to go around players and turn onto his left at the top. Still will be a great senior if he sticks at it, but Iām taking about him becoming the next JOE.
Yep he only passes in order to get a return pass. Backs played as a unit, making passes to lads in better positions but the forwards were as bad as our seniors when it comes to teamwork and I can pay them no bigger insult.
I have my doubts we will be beating anyone much at Senior in a few more years.
Backs worked the ball out very well. Ball to hand excellent.
I genuinely think the referee failed in his duty of care in not sending that second tackler off. Fcuking dreadful hit. As bad as you could possibly see, hard, dangerous, designed to hurt, and absolutely intentional. Ref should be hauled aside for that. Appalling challenge.
We are reaping what was sowed in development squads over the last ten years. There is no way, to take just one instance, so many of the Kilkenny Minors this evening should be trying one handed picks and missing them. Basics have been eroded.
True. No argument at all from anyone any way fair minded in Kilkenny.
I just cannot understand how any referee can look at that, and think itās not a red card. Itās bizarre. If he doesnāt red card that, he shouldnāt be allowed to referee any game as he is simply not safe.
Is the obsession with Kieranās damaging Kilkenny hurling as a whole?
Comer, Callan and Kilkenny Cbs gone back because of it.
Iād add that itās now reasonably accepted that a single concussion can have permanent effects. I genuinely think the GAA will wait until someone is given life changing injuries before acting. That referee should be withdrawn from all further matches for the foreseeable future.
They could easily put out two teams in Leinster A and both would win more games than they lose.
