Itâs amusing, most counties would get a bit of grace when they make it to the top or even back to the top after an absence. Already we know thIs Cork side will be eminently dislikable due to their management behaviour and players carryon and the inevitable ârebelâ chant returning, even before they win that senior All Ireland.
Yeah that burst killed off a good match in the blink of an eye
Whatâs dislikeable about Ben? A thoroughly popular guy and a gentleman
His carryon today, hounding the referee, his instructions to his players to systematically foul and harass off the ball as well as late hits after the whistle. Apart from that, heâs grand I suppose
Finals are to be won, not played, and Cork did that. Credit to them. Ref needed to protect the young lad being targeted though. It was obvious it was a tactic
Ref set the tone by not booking the lad for a bad tackle in the first minute.
Itâs been said here a lot but Thurles badly needs investment. Most annoying thing for me was the music blasting out of 50 year old tannoy system. Nobody wants to hear it. Why the fuck have it so so loud. My old man couldnât hear a thing.
If referees arenât willing to protect our skilful players and allow mullockers do what they like, then they may as well throw their hat at the thing.
Itâs not a tannoy - they bring in these massive speakers for matches. I had to sit within 20 feet of one of them ahead of the Wexford match last year. They are obnoxiously loud
Fucking hell
Shades of Seadna Morey in 2010 about Gunning for Clare today.
That was a great version of De Banks from Cyril The Sombrero. Havenât seen the likes of that Joe McDonagh on 1980. Cork are back. Youâd know by the level of seethe just reading back on the posts throughout the match on here. Well done to @gilgamboa and all the Cork backers.
Ah lads
Cormac Egan has suspected broken ribs after the penalty incident. That poor lad has been cursed with injuries since winning the u20s football All Ireland as a minor
Just let them play Rugby League.
Itâs unusual to see such an outstanding corner-back. Usually the best defender is shifted to a more central position. Was he tasked with picking up Niland today?
Any comment from @Perez2017 and the other split seasons zealots who were saying it was just fine to send out a crowd of Leaving Cert students to play an All Ireland Final just three days before the start of the exams and to get roughed up the way the Offaly lads were today.
Ben OâConnor will make a great Cork manager. The arrogant Corkiness just oozes out of him. The rest of us will all hate him and he wonât give a shite. Heâll have the players believing theyâre born to win.
Is he a cop or the brother?
Jerry is a cop. Is Ben full time making hurleys?
Iâd expect the split season zealots to be keeping a low profile this week. They were giving it the big one here last week or maybe the week before after a couple of big Munster Championship games.
Unfortunately though, weâre only in the first week of June now and the Hurling Championship is effectively fizzling out with just 4 Hurling weekends remaining while the Football has flopped spectacularly. Thereâs no one going to the games.
Having young lads playing an AI Final 3 days before a Leaving Cert was just crazy stuff. Hopefully the Offaly lads in particular are in a fit state for English Paper 1 on Wednesday.
