The Tipp 11 and 14 were serious players - but Collins at 4 was pick of the bunch. Stuck to Horgan like glue and curbed him completely.
Woodlock is a serious coach - you could tell that team were very well drilled.

That opinion is hardly reflective of all stars and all ireland winners it has produced for a small club. Bear in mind Crowe played minor last year also.
A lot of Co minors get their head turned and not just in Limerick or Doon.
I thought it was a decent game in terms of the hurling & skill levels; the shooting from both sides obviously made it low-scoring but the wind was very hard to judge.
The flags at one end were blowing one way, the flags at the other end were blowing the opposite direction and both sides hit wides towards the open stand.
We were probably lucky to be only 3 down at half-time but then I thought we absolutely dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half, but I think we only got 1 point from 7 opportunities in that period.
The worry was that those wides would be costly but they stayed in it; in fairness, they continued to put a lot of pressure on Tippâs shots and never allowed them open a big gap. You just stay in touch and you never know.
Tipp seemed slicker in the first half and better at getting the ball in hand first time in their forwards- Morrison & Dunne in particular. But then, in the second half, we seemed to be the ones hoovering up all the breaks around midfield and they didnât seem to get the ball as easily. Neligan got on some amount of ball.
Tipp possibly forced the goal chances a little bit; it paid off in the semi-final; they missed a lot early on and then finished with 5. Maybe they could have tapped a few over today but I suppose if thatâs the way theyâve been coached, you canât really blame them. Collins made one unbelievable save in particular (although I thought Mitchell did really well to put pressure on the shot, that almost worked against him).
The finish was unreal then; an unbelievable goal from GOB. He was a long way out but he put some serious pace on the shot, right into the ground too. And then serious composure from John Ross to win it. Weâll probably never see Limerick win an All Ireland on our home patch ever again so nice to savour it.

My pals young lad was captain and free taker for Limerick today. A proud moment for his parents. Iâve seen him play far better but the result was no.1 for today. They have another decent lad on the underage squads too around u14.

Winning an all Ireland on home soil is a rare thing for anyone to say, those young lads today will never forget that day. Mustâve been surreal for them to celebrate with each other on the familiar TUSGG winning an All Ireland.
Especially in the circumstances they won it. I thought O Reillyâs winner was actually a savage bit of composure, wasnât the easiest angle either on his right side on second watch.
Conor Ryan had a monumental second half too I want to add.

A probably more extreme version of Tipp v Offaly a few years back. Tipps half time lead of 3 should/could have been anything up to ten points.
If Tipp go in ahead then Limerick have to play with a bit more abandon and itâs a total different game in the second half.
Both teams had their misses in the second half, both sets of defenders forced low percentage shots from the wings and there was so many wides hit.
There is a long way to go yet but you can see senior potential in approx nine of the Tipp players and five of the Limerick players by my count.

Possibly not- but if it was any bit higher, he definitely saves it. If it was any bit less powerful, he probably saves it too.
His grandmother a great friend of my late mother, she sent the oul fella a picture of her with Shane with the cup after the game, a proud day for the club.

Iâd agree with that, Tipp should have been out of sight at HT but sheer doggedness kept us in it, at the end of the day theyâll be another 3 years to U20 level and them on to senior so too early to say really how many of them will train on from both sides.
Not too early for Xavi, we need to find Iniesta next season

Great night in Charleville tonight seeing an All Ireland medal coming home. Adds to his sister winning an all ireland with Cork.
An amazing kid. I heard he even signed an autograph for Darragh Fitzgibbon tonight. What a sound gesture.

They were a different team as match went on. The belief and confidence grew in them. A great win. We were due one.

He was but he was a bit more raw coming through around 2014 2015 and had Lynch, OâDonovan and Big Will ahead of him as well as Ronan Lynch. Paperwork was nearly through for a transfer to Ballyagran but his agent stopped it when he saw that Limerick were 1/8 to beat Galway in a 21s semi final. He worried about his âpathwayâ.
