Cork hurling benefitted from a few awful referee calls to keep them in the senior câship. The wheel always turns.
I think weâll win at least 2 and possibly all of the next 4 U20 All Irelandâs which should stand us in good stead to win back Liam by 2029.
Iâd love to see it. There was a time when it looked like Cork were going to win u20 every year forever more.
Better to spread it out.
This is effectively an U19 team Tipp have bar Curivan and with a few of this years u17âs to come on board next year, Tipp should be strong again.
This football is a tough watch after the hurling
Big win for Cummins. If Cahill gets the bullet the Tipp job will be his if imagine.
The players will be sick after that. 17 wides for Cork compared to 6 for Tipp.
In fairness, they showed great heart to take over the game after the Tipp goal. Despite the wides they kept coming back at Tipp, and I thought we were going to eventually sneak a winner.
Yes the ref definitely did not favour us, and it was obviously a goal but we had the opportunities to more than win that match. The shots were on in fairness, just that last ditch accuracy was off.
Healy and OâConnor had good games in the HF line, but the rest of the team really had their share of good moments and bad. Paudie OâSullivan had a solid game in goals too, and his namesake Darragh scored some inspirational points.
A few strange substitution decisions from the management as well.
Still, these players have given us great days at minor and u20 last year and they fought well tonight against a gutsy Tipp team.
Offaly will really fancy the final IMO.
I thought Cormac Fitzpatrick, in my own biased viewpoint, would break through onto this team this year after effectively carrying Drom to the Under 21 county final last December. He is only turning 18 this year though so time still on his side.
Cormac Fitzpatrick and Robbie Ryan would be two of the most highly rated 18 year olds, but its OâDonoghue who has now become the leading light of that age group and Sam Rowan of Mullinahone came on tonight and might well have it too.
Limerick not winning a game at minor and u20 should ring alarm bells. Serious underperformance and coaching tickets are very underwhelming with suspect CVâs
Sam Rowan is class. Unlike the other two he has a bit of size too.
Didnât see much issue with the referee. The rising sense of entitlement from the Corks is palpable
Nice to get the win. Plenty of SIC prospects from 8 onwards.
Outside of O Halloran who Iâm still undecided on we are struggling to develop defenders. I suppose the system in place with the sweeper protects that.
Think they have the potential to beat Offaly. Ravenhill and Martin are big losses. Physical units. Cancels out McCormack. Dan Bourke is the man to stop. Offaly have a few backs there to be got at.
Must be remembered that Tipp pissed the Celtic Challenge in 2022 the same year of the All Ireland Minor win. A few lads playing tonight were only playing Celtic Challenge back then.
There really is a tsunami of hurlers in Tipp in the 16-19 age bracket. Makes it all the more surprising that last years minors bombed out so early.
Youâd worry though that its hurlers that are being produced still rather than Rubby League style open side flankers that are better suited to modern day Inter County Senior
Bar Screeney, Offalys other two inside are weak.
Tipp will have the better 15 and subs no doubt but itâs whether they can break even down the middle
Should that not be grounds for a replay. Can you leave the outcome of games in the hands of the uncle or whatever gombeen the ref brings to the game.
Obviously no replay but this current umpire stuff does have to be looked at.
Umpires should be club referees for games like that.
The players put in too much work for the game to be at the mercy of the refereeâs relatives.
He had to have seen it. He just bottled it
I donât know lads, I know heâs right there and it is his job, fair enough. But I didnât see it in real time, neither did the commentators, the Cork player standing a foot away didnât try and claim it (now Cork did claim for a free in for lying on the ball which I think they were right in).
It looks obvious when you slow it down but I wouldnât be certain that a referee acting as an umpire calls that either.
The fact it hit the net makes me think he had to have seen it. Maybe he wasnât positioned right or whatever but itâs just mediocre for games to continually come down to hoping the officials arenât inept.
Why not have a panel of umpires, I would suggest that no one over 40 be eligible for eyesight reliability reasons. Train them just in umpiring and pay them, like what Aussie rules does.
