Dub minors are very wasteful.
Their 11 is a nice mix of Cratloe considine and nenagh flannery. One we lost. Born in mungret.
Kk win by four. Some good defenders on that KK team.
That catch at the end by Bobby Brennan was reminiscent of Leo Barryās mark at the end of the 2005 AFL Grand Final. Bobby Brennan is a great name.
Lovely goal by the KK number 13. Ollie OāDonovan or something?
KK celebrated so hard at the end that I thought for a moment a brawl was breaking out on the pitch.
My oulā fella worked with a man who was a proper Dub, a serious Dublin GAA supporter, a trade union man, who had an obsession with Kilkenny hurling. He had no Kilkenny connections. He nearly got more joy out of Kilkenny winning than Dublin. He particularly loved watching Kilkenny minor and under-21 teams, who he called ākittensā. āOh did you see those kittens yesterday, they were brilliant.ā
2 bad days in a week in portlaoise. Kk deserved it. They learned a lot from the defeat in nowlan oark and shut down all our key men. Dublinās worst performance by a distance this year
Wexford had some really nice players there. OāBrien at FF Iāve heard about before - very good player.
Centre back and midfielder number 8 really good too. They are a solid outfit. Plenty players to work with there to be competitive at u20 in the future.
They destroyed Cork on the breaking ball in particular. Cork looked poorly set up in that regard, Wexford had more numbers around the vast majority of puckout contests.
Some nice defending from Wexford too. Stopped a few goal chances very well.
I didnāt realise (or else had blocked mentally) that they had made such a mess out of the minor Championship. 4 from 5 teams in Munster qualify for the knockouts, what the fuck is that about?
If we had won 1 match, weād have made a preliminary quarter-final
Its u17. Meant to be about development. The more matches the better.
Yep. Callan man, shared dna
I do get that but theyāre getting a fair few matches in the provincials.
I would say uncompetitive matches arenāt much better than challenges.
So a good Wexford win means they should just disband the extra games?
Come off it. The more championship games these lads play the better.
Itās a development age. You cannot compare a challenge game to a knockout clash in Thurles. I can guarantee you that those young lads of Galway and Wexford today will have been very thankful of the new format. Great experience for those lads.
Most of the uncompetitve underage games usually involve Limerick.
Itās not the knockout game today that I feel is devalued, that is always meaningful, itās the additional group games that become āchallenge-esqueā.
Maybe Iām wrong but I think the round robin for minor & U-20 has been a great addition, Iād just be wary of devaluing it.
Although I was more commenting on the fact that we would have qualified if we had even won one game, so I guess all 4 of our games had something to play for We need to have a look at that.
As is always the way with these things too far east is west, 3 teams out of each province would be perfect.
Iād also expand the u20 and have losing provincial finalists in a semi final.
Iād agree with that. 3 from 5 would be perfect.
I think the problem with the 20s is they try to get it wrapped up before the Leaving Cert.
Thatās a fair point also, the knockout increase the randomness of it. Iād imagine Cork would win the all Ireland if given another chance.
The Leinster Round Robin groups were seriously competitive. It was a real ding dong. I think the underage formats are as good as we can get them at this stage.
Amateur hour from Feargal and co in Croke Park regarding ticketing for the Under 20 final has the club officer Whatsapp group hopping.
Offaly GAA put out a tweet today saying tickets would go on sale on Ticketmaster at 2:00 p.m. A link was then circulated to clubs saying tickets were going on sale at Midday. That link has now updated the sale time to 2.30 p.m. Meanwhile Tipperary County Board are furiously trying to get an allocation for clubs to prevent Offaly supporters buying 90% of them online.
Itāll be 90% Offaly anyway. The people of Tipperary have given up on hurling.
