Official All Ireland Senior Football Championship 2011 Thread

Itā€™ll be McConnell/Bastick in midfield v Wexford. Fennell canā€™t run.

Do you remember what your midfield was against us in the Leinster Championship last year? I think we were on top there for a good 50 minutes before pissing it away.

Dont think so if he had delayed the pass slightly B Brogan was free for a goal. A goal would have finished the game, think Cooper in the same circumstances would have got the ball inside to the free man.

Oā€™Gara for all his faults tends to win the ball anyway. He was fouled for two of Broganā€™s scored frees - soft ones, involved in the Connolly goal chance and Iā€™m pretty sure laid on a point for someone too.

Not overly sure on that Cork team. Id prefer since I have money rolling on them that Shields be centre back and Cadogan in the full back line. Guess Kerry will test if Miskella and Canty still have the legs for this level. The forward line looks very settled. Thought that long haired lad might have been thereabouts in the half back line?

McConnell defintely started and was it Bastick? Edit: it was McConnell and Fennell.

McAuley came on as a sub anyway.

Still a weak midfield. McConnell is a better athlete which to be fair wouldnt be difficult compared to Fennell.

Bandage, how will Wexford line out? Who will be centre forward exploiting Brennanā€™s poor man marking?

masterson
wading
molloy
malone
doyle/morrissey
murphy
flynn
quinlivan
waters
roche
lyng
brosnan
morris
bradley
red

bradley will be cf, but we dont play traiditonal roles in the forwards at present kib, lyng are red are our two inside men, with roche and brosnan operating outside them and bradley and morris operating closer to midfield.

morris is basically a groundhog and bradley carries a good bit of ball and to be fair he is a powerful runnerā€¦

Ya, saw it after.

Think to be honest ye HAVE to beat them up midfield, the less ball into ā€œBernoā€ the better. Is that young lad (21ā€™s) playing midfield? I was seriously impressed with him, can score as well.

KIB - Denis Oā€™ Sullivan i presume you are on about? Classy player but they were never going to put him in from the start in Killarney unless absolutely needed. He is ideal for Croke Park and i suspect he could displace Kissane by the end of the year. Kissane was immense this time last year and generally starts the year well, but has faded 2 years running now.

I like the Cork forward line except for Kerrigan, just not getting the consistency needed yet from him, he can get rattled and have absolute blow out games.

Canty has always done well on Donaghy KIB, thats the main reason for him full, he wouldnā€™t play there against anyone else.

Yes, I expect us to retain our 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 formation.

No, Oā€™Reganā€™s on the bench. The other Wexford lads can correct me but I donā€™t think heā€™s featured yet in the three games. No starters in the senior team from that U21 team yet though a few are involved in the squad.

The old DCU system of 2-2-2 in the forwards? Can look absolutely ridiculous if not worked properly, but clearly it worked against weaker opposition and they got big scores. Its the kind of system that would break up a good Dublin full back line and confuse the fuck out of Brennan.

Strength in depth so it seems appearing, good stuff. Were any of Wexfords games on TV3?

evidence please

Thatā€™s the system all right. I was posting before the Carlow game wondering how we would adapt if it wasnā€™t working but we were able to overcome them without really changing style in the end after a sloppy first half. I guess thatā€™s the test - to see if we can defeat better teams than two fellow Division 3 sides and a Division 4 team in Carlow whether itā€™s playing with that system or being able to vary it if required.

You forgot the 1890 bit in the middle.

no bando, o regan hasnt featured this summer yet, im not convinced by him for some reasonā€¦bit of a shaper (not that theres anything wrong with that sort of thing). i would have expected more of the u21 defence to be on the panelā€¦

Kev, how much have u seen of o Regan?

Iā€™d say 3 to 4 times, all on TV.

If he had delayed the pass he would have run out of pitch, he looked across the square to see if the pass was on and saw he hadnā€™t a hope of getting it to the footballer of the year, he took the right option.

Oā€™Gara won absolutely fuck all in that game.

Jesus, is Graham Canty still playing?

???

was the u21 televised?

or was it highlights online?

It is a matter of regret to Sarsfields GFC and Faythe Harriers Hurling Club that Oā€™Regan slipped from our grasp.
