Official All Ireland Senior Football Championship 2011 Thread

Kev is a cyborg and actually has the games broadcast directly into his brain (hard drive as he likes to call it) so that he can watch, interpret and make conclusions about them while he goes about his other business, like his run for a welterweight world title.

No, on tv, there was extended highlights of many of the games at the time, usually 2-3 U-21 games on in an hour.

I was in ireland for all the U-21 you muppet.

still think hes overrated, went missing against cavanā€¦ lucky to stay on the field against carlowā€¦

Ah look, i was only going on what i saw. He was big, athletic and could score. Maybe he could be made in to a centre or full forward if not midfield. Anyway the fact ye have no 21ā€™s on the team is probably a positive, shows there is a settled team and its not easy to get on.

Better a muppet than a cyborg.

A cyborg can move himself Fitzy, you are the hand of another.

I thought Oā€™Reagan was outstand for the U-21s this year. He was the main reason we destroyed every team we played at midfield. The U-21s problems lay closer to the goal.

As for the dubs, i think we will beat them at midfield. Definitely an advantage for us that McCauley is out. In defence Molloy wiil probably mark brogan, but iā€™d be worried about whoā€™d pick up alan, especially if he plays centre forward.

+1

Amazed the press havenā€™t picked up on this. It would make a change from the free scoring forwards/ben brosnan angle at least.

Boom.

Dave Murphy Iā€™d imagine. He started off man marking against westmeath on glennon in the corner I think. I would be more worried about Malone or wadding on connolly.

Molloy was marking Glennon and then switched onto Dolan when Wadding was having trouble. I think Murphy has become very good at holding the centre and I donā€™t think heā€™s suited to following Brogan around - he was all over the place last Sunday. I would leave our two man markers as they have been with Molloy taking Bernard Brogan and let Brian Malone track Alan Brogan as heā€™s comfortable inside or further out the field. That would mean Wadding taking Connolly.

when the ball was thrown in Murphy was in the corner with Andy Doyle centre back. Didnā€™t last long but it seemed as if Murphy was following specific man marking duties but it was changed after less than 5 mins.

A plus for Wexford is that the two Dublin wing backs and their midfield arent comfortable bringing the ball forward. Think they should take a risk letting them forward at times and trying to counterattack on them. Kildare stupidly made a hero of Oā€™Caroll the last day, lets see how he is marking a tricky forward.

This would be easily solved by playing Cahill and Henry who are both excellent coming forward. Oā€™Carroll is the real deal at full back, heā€™s learnt quickly from mistakes he made last year and I wouldnā€™t have any worries over him.

I only half looked at the highlights of the game but how did Kildare make a hero out of him? Lobbing high balls into FF or something else?

Kildare didnā€™t make a hero out of anybody. They didnā€™t win because they didnā€™t inject enough pace and movement into the game in the last quarter when they had narrowed the gap to two points.

Thanks for your answer Sid but I donā€™t recall asking you the original question.

yes the route one tactics were absurd with an extra man. putting lynch in full forward was like when ireland used bring on gary doherty up front.

Hopefully my reply can guide KIB in his response.

Thatā€™s what iā€™d be worried about Mac. Not sure David has the mobility for Brogan. Bandageā€™s suggestion about Malone tracking him would probably work, but what happens if Brogan sticks to the centre forward position? David canā€™t really play anywhere else but centreback, where he does a very good job for us with his physicality and distribution. Conelly on form would also be a worry and would be a big test for Wadding, but we donā€™t really have many other options here. Anyone esle hope that Morrisey starts the next day at wingback?
