But as I sit and type, clubs that think it’s a good idea to have players play underage and adult in the same year are not remotely concerned with the long term development of their club or players.
It was done years ago because we didn’t know any better.
Are you saying that Ballygunnar are not remotely concerned with the long term development of Patrick Fitzgerald, or Kilmallock with O’Brien or the Barrs are with Ben O’Connor?
Some lads on here think Ben O’Connor and his likes shouldn’t be allowed play Senior with cork until his 21. They do be listening to too many Shane smith seminars.
Why was that match played midweek? Clongeen gave ye a decent game by the looks of it. I’d say Ballyhogue will end up in a relegation final from that side?
Not sure why it was midweek. We had ten shots at goal and only scored one. And got no points got from those shots. It was level going into injury time. Should have won more comfortably but Clongeen could easily have got the win as they were attacking and lost possession and we went down and kicked a point. Then hemmed them in on the kick out and got another and that was that.
That would probably mean that a youngster wouldn’t play championship with his club unless he was exceptional. No room for an un used rookie come champo
We got warned by the ref about “overly rough play”. ‘‘Twas great to see versus where we were a year ago and standing off teams too polite to tackle.
I generally swap the positions at half time so everybody has a chance to play as a back, forward and midfielder but it seems to be disruptive and some lads are already clearly more at home as defenders.
Would you persist with it for another while - they are still only 11 - or even leave them in same position for each game and rotate game by game instead
