Official TFK GAA Coaches Corner

Probably a bit beyond us yet.

Yeah no doubt. The conversation was aimed at letting coaches know that lads can move up and down at that age and avoid sioling them too much

Lads with fierced fixed mindsets like that have no place coaching kids.

Ah sorry - didn’t realise the age group!

Sure a good few of the greatest hurling team of modern times didnt play underage county.

When children hit 17/18, it’s those with the best attitude that will start to come to the fore.

I’m fairly sure I read an article on Hugo Keenan who was on an under 13/14 C/D team in “Rock”. I think though the reason he was there was because he was more interested in soccer and athlethics at the time.

He still has to reach the top of the Irish rugby game and lose a WC quarter final though.

The stats on the amount of kids being born in the first third of the year by Fionn Fitzgerald is very interesting, he was saying counties should divide development squads into full year and half year squads.

This is even magnified more with the joke that is u17 at minor.

Limerick are reverting to even ages from 2024

We had a couple of fellas who played senior hurling for us last year who would have been fairly shit at 13/14. Subs behind fellas who have long given up the sport. If there was such a thing as a C or D squad, they may very well have been on it.

Not saying they’ll win All-Irelands but they went toe-to-toe with All-Ireland winners and didn’t look out of place.

The new Chairman came under pressure on this. Supposedly he had promised clubs that it would be this year but lost out on a vote at a management meeting.

Ya i read that and his podcast with Mike Quirke. Very good research, as said bringing minor to u17 means big wins.

The only problem will be the proposed decoupling at u18 which is going to kill smaller or medium sized clubs.

By God.

By God indeed.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::smile:

Didnt Poacher attend one of Stapletons for €40 or €50? :grinning:

Reading the examiner today Under 18 will be coming in without decoupling.

That was the opinion of Munster CEO Ger Ryan, sadly the opinion of such clowns matters more than that of 90% of clubs including his own.
