Is poacher still at it :joy:

That’s been well flagged across all sports.

Its nuts. For example Evan Ferguson can play Premier League but couldnt play a junior football game under the proposed rules.

But the Examiner seemed to be of the opinion that under 18 will come in with players been allowed to play adult hurling.

Yeah but it was probably the Minor D team. He probably captined the minor A team at 14

Yeah, but soccer is handy in fairness

So many dickheads hopping on the bandwagon with these workshops now, and the problem is, a consistent price starts trending and they all go for it

Same shite in every workshop; clowns who think they’re doing something innovative when it really isn’t

Hopefully that is the case.

The difference is Evan Ferguson will only now play for the clubs senior team. He won’t also be playing for his school team, u18 team and u21 team as well as also playing for the Brighton basketball team at u18 u21 and senior. And going to school too.

I’m sorry.

But there is no place for a sensible view like that here.

It seems to be reasonable to compare the load of the good 17 year old who’s on the club minors, 21s, county development squad, schools team, club adult teams and local soccer team to the lad who plays for a pro team and literally doesn’t have to make his breakfast because his schedule is managed for him.

And that doesn’t even start to deal with the inevitable fixtures clashes that occur.

It’s fair to say that if any adult club is dependent on the annual influx of 18 year old(s) to field their adult teams then then they’re a spectacular failure and looking for someone else to blame.

This is the nub of the matter here. Lads who say small clubs need 16 or 17 year olds togging out to survive is generally absolute bollocks. I can imagine a very very small minority might, but the others just want the talented young fella up playing adult as soon as possible. They’ll most likely have 7-8 fellas on the line (albeit shite, but shur thats the game unfortunately), and will happily toss the chaps into the deep end and risk making solid shite of them. And of course there’s the other fixture shit show that will come about, not to mention the burnout of the young chap.

Evan Ferguson me bollocks.

Agreed but could bring in rules that 18 year olds can only play championship and not league for example at adult level. Easy to decrease player’s workloads.

So you now want to drop 17 year olds right into championship with no build up in league?

Tell me you’re not allowed near a team. Please.

You walked into that one @Perez2017

So is Evan Ferguson eligible for minors next year or what’s happening?

His brother was better but too fond of the drink

Thought of the day GAA coaches.

85% of all runs in Foot-Soccer-ball are not in straight lines. I assume GAH is the same. Curved runs require different muscles.

So why have you them running in straight lines?

This is quite informative when they race through the slalom polls. How Ronaldo turns is brilliant. Jumps to turn.

While not a perfect rule - I think there would be merit to letting second year minors being eligible to play for the adult second team and below. Would provide warm bodies for the adult section in clubs and allow those with a serious interest to play adult grade but not necessarily get flogged by a senior/first team.

Obviously not ideal for the top few percent of minors or those who would be far too good to play at a lower level or from very small clubs but there is no rule that will work for every scenario
