It’s hardly a bogeyman if it’s actually in their manifesto. It’s a stated aim.
SF becoming viktor orban is the bogeyman im referring to. Not the investigation into rte.
RTÉs coverage is probably far more balanced than most mainstream media across Europe, and it’s still massively imbalanced. Yes, I would say understanding is limited significantly if you only followed through RTÉ reporting.
In all fairness I think that’s bollocks. You’re mistaking the obligation on broadcast journalists on a national broadcast network to behave in a professional, objective manner with bias.
Some RTE people are better than others but that’s the nature of humans. Sarah McInerney and Cormac O’Hara are better on this issue than Miriam O’Callaghan and Claire Byrne, but that’s because they’re better journalists.
People who exist in a reality-based world are capable of making up their own minds without having journalists whose job is to be objective behaving like cheerleaders.
Those who choose to live in a non-reality based world, not so much, but there’s fuck all we can do about that.
Anybody who looks at Irish politics in an objective manner will see the similarities between Orban’s modus operandi and Sinn Fein’s.
Sure I’ve been referencing it for years.
You may remember that Sinn Fein are the political wing of an entity which saw fit to bomb and murder and maim people for three decades.
It’s no leap to suggest that taking drastic measures against those who get in their way is in their DNA.

That might be fair but it’s also clear they have a massive anti SF bias.
Not just them. Newstalk are worse. Pat Kenny nearly chokes on his caviar everytime he mentions them. Ciara Kelly worse again
Perhaps reality has an anti-SF bias?
The thing with Sinn Fein’s perception of journalists is that unless they’re basically cheerleaders for them Sinn Fein will never be happy and will spread propaganda against them.
For a very short while Aoife Moore who is from Derry was given a somewhat fair hearing by SF supporters on the basis she’s a Catholic from the Bogside.
Then she wrote a book about Sinn Fein which contained a few embarrassing tidbits from the past including Martin McGuinness’s plan to call for an amnesty for all Troubles protagonists, and suddenly she was public enemy number one, a shill for the establishment.
Sinn Fein should just be honest and say they don’t like the idea of journalism because it makes life awkward for them and disturbs the carefully choreographed reality they want to portray.
SF think all “journalists” should be like a certain glorified party planner and his minions.
Radio 1 had Boyd Barret on last week about PBP’s manifesto and half of the interview was about Sinn Fein. For a finish pushing him for a yes or no on whether SF are a left party… it was bizarre and laughable. They don’t even try and hide the bias.
I’d love to know who the people are who think Aontu are best placed to tackle the climate crisis.
Presumably the pro-rapist, science denier posters on here are among them.
Simon Harris didn’t get elected until the 15th count at the last election. I don’t think he’s that well liked in Wicklow cc @Julio_Geordio.
Is there a chance he won’t get re-elected? Might see if I can get odds on that.
A disaster for Fine Gael. Gav Reilly tweeting the ipsos/Irish Times poll at this stage, 4 days out, was fairly spot with how things ultimately fell in the 2020 election. Amidst the detail I read that the in person polling was conducted between last Wednesday & Saturday…with Kanturk on Friday evening…this could be even worse for Harris. I wonder what he’ll do at the debate tomorrow night to turn things around. I wouldn’t rule Si out just yet.
